Summary:
Work in the rental shop, providing service, maintenance, and repair on the tools in our rental fleet and fabrication areas. They will use their technical skills to troubleshoot issues when they arise to
keep our equipment functioning properly. A Rental Equipment Technician not only ensures the equipment is working properly, but also manages customer relationships to assist customers remotely over the phone to diagnose tool issues, for customer retention and satisfaction.
Qualification Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5 or more years of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting/ repair experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Experience in manufacturing environment.
- Forklift driving experience is preferred.
- To stand for over 8 hours.
- Extended periods of walking.
- To lift, bend and reach above shoulders’ level.
- To lift up to 50 pounds.
- To kneel and crawl.
- To climb ladders.
- To manipulate, carry, push, pull and lift loads/machinery.
- Peripheral Vision ability.
- Fine manipulation abilities (both hands).
- Ability to distinguish colors.
- Ability to see, distinguish and manipulate small items (such as needles, thread, etc.)
- Ability to perform repetitive motions.
You adapt to a variety of work requirements and quickly solve problems while providing excellent customer service. You evaluate the pros and cons, risks, and benefits of different solution options.
You effectively communicate tool issues verbally and using tool repair forms. You are organized and tidy with your work environment and pride yourself on satisfying the customers’ demands.

- Review & recommend welding tool equipment, repair parts and tools, techniques, and future needs.
- Support large scale projects as directed to ready tools in a timely manner.
- Respond to customer calls or emails in a timely manner.
- Communicate directly with the rental department team, so we can inform customers and distributors when necessary.
- while informing territory stakeholders.
- Prepare & present updates including tool or weld issues to the Welding Equipment Manager.
- Present common tool issues and work with Managers to contact vendor as needed.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on welding tools both in rental shop, and tools located in our fabrication areas.
- Perform calibration and tool maintenance checks on an established schedule.
- Download weld data as needed, document, print and maintain tool weld repairs by tool serial number.
- Document the scheduled maintenance tasks in the tool’s record binder.
- Repair common Welding Equipment components as needed.
- Repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic powered tools as needed to support projects.
- Ensure spare parts needed are kept in stock to support project.
- Identify common tool repairs and maintain documentation of these common issues.
- Understand, align, and challenge technical information from vendors, customers, and operators.
- Ability to understand weld processes were done correctly, identify possible cause(s) of questionable welds.
- Resolve product quality concerns, document, and inform quality department, tool manager as needed.
- Provide technical instructions, guidance, and support to customers as needed.
- Follow established training guidelines/ policies to maintain a safe work environment when using equipment.
- Develop skills needed to ensure the customer receives excellent technical support and tools in good working order.
- Understand the division 5-year plan.
- Understand & follow ISO 9001:2015 procedures.
