Position Highlights
1. Perform modifications and repairs to field and shop equipment
2. Complete job work orders
3. Provide support to the machinist for repairs and maintenance on prestressing equipment.
4. Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
5. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
6. Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements).
7. Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
8. Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
9. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
10. Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
11. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
12. Maintain and repair equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
Qualified Candidates Should Possess the Following:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Must have completed welding program OR 5-10 years of experience
- Proven experience as welder
Successful Team Members in This Position Possess the Following:
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to drive a fork lift and learn within the 90 day probationary period
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment (TIG, MMA etc.)
- Experience using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
- Attention to detail
- Proficient in English
- Willingness to travel for job-site repairs and fabrication
- Ability to Pass a Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate)
- Report to work as scheduled by the employer and without excessive absenteeism.
- Observe and maintain all safety procedures.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily works under a shed outside exposed to the elements
- Exposure to hazardous materials
- Exposure to frequent loud noises
- Exposure to dangerous machinery
- Generally works five 8-hour days, although overtime may occur
