Welder is an entry level position with no certification required. The purpose for an operator at this level is to learn and train on the basic understandings of all welding specific operations. Welders must obtain a basic level ability to set up and operate a variety of automatic and manual equipment to produce precision parts with immediate supervision by a certified Welder (level II or above). Welder follows and complies with established standard work under immediate supervision in efforts to obtain certification within 120 days. The welder will typically refer problems or deviations to more experienced operators including Lead Technicians, Supervisors or engineers.

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Learn how to set up and operate automatic and manual welding machines according to specifications.
• Learns how to perform cleaning operations as may be required as performed in production
• Learns how to inspect and check dimensions using precision gauges and measuring instruments.
• Learns how to assemble pats and position in fixture.
• Learns how to operate the CNC equipment as required to complete the weld.
• Performing cleaning operations after welding as may be required to complete the weld.
• Learns how to perform non-production welds.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications sheets.
• Accurately complete production documentation and performs necessary labor transactions.
• Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position.
• Actively participates in the Continuous Improvement process as well as safety related activities
• Working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business
• Some Holiday hours may be required based on business need

Qualifications/Experience Needed: 

• HS Diploma. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience is required.
• U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Manufacturing background
• TIG welding background
• Manual dexterity to perform tasks associated with welding
• Ability to learn how to read and understand prints
• Computer experience (e-mail, print documents, internet) and ability to learn how to operate a computer to access prints and/or specified work instructions
• Basic shop math including knowledge of Geometric Tolerances
• Ability to learn basics of the position within first 3 months of employment
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management
