PURPOSE OF POSITION
To weld end bells onto cans according to company quality specifications in order to satisfy customer orders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
More specifically, the person will:
- Set up automated welder.
- Assure parts and components are accurate according to company and/or customer specifications using measuring devices including but not limited to micrometer, caliper, tape measure, and dial indicator.
- Repair damaged cans with welder and grinder.
- Collect data as required including but not limited to accurate counts of all parts produced or scrapped.
- Perform housekeeping in area including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, and cleaning tools.
- Continually participate in additional training related to the job.
- Perform routine maintenance on various tools including but not limited to welder.
- Perform extra assignments in other areas and related task assignments in the work area.
- Regular, consistent attendance.
- Communicate professionally with supervisors, fellow workers, and other internal customers.

- Ability to weld at a level that meets and/or exceeds company safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Proficient use of math skills.
- Ability to accurately utilize measuring devices including but not limited to a tape measure, micrometer, caliper, and dial indicator.
- Have basic ability to read and understand blueprints and/or order specifications.
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and ability to solve problems using training, experience, and reasoning skills
EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS
- High school diploma or a general education degree (GED); or
- one to three months related experience and/or training; or
- equivalent combination of education and experience.
TRAINING – CERTIFICATIONS – LICENSES
- Welding certification preferred, but not required

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY
- The noise level in the work environment is very LOUD.
- Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
- Frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals or vibration.
- Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
- Steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves and apron.
