What you can expect to work on…
This position will work with various types of metals with various thickness: stainless steel, copper, carbon steel,
and aluminum. This position is also conducting fabrication involving laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring, and welding metals to create the desired shape or object.

Essential functions
- Proficiently set up and operate all related welding equipment applying to comprehensive welding.
- Produce and verify parts as outlined in procedures and work instructions.
- Lay out, position and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications using measuring tools such as measuring tapes, straight edges, squares, and angle finders.
- Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirement.
- TIG, MIG, and ARC welding processes with steel, aluminum, copper and stainless-steel components.
- Follow, create, support, and help maintain welding procedure specifications.
- Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.
- Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities.
- Safely move components and/or assemblies with forklift or overhead crane.
- Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Uphold all ISO and OSHA standards.
- Oxygen free copper to copper welding in a vacuum chamber / bubble of critical high RF components for high energy beam creation in an ultra-high vacuum.
- Stainless steel TIG welding of critical beamline components for linear accelerators.
- Vacuum tight stainless steel welding for critical radio-isotope containment vessels
- Multiple exciting structural welds to maintain ultra-high vacuum to allow electron beam acceleration to near the speed of light.
Competencies
- Must be able to measure accurately.
- Must be able to operate all welding equipment and be familiar with and follow all safety features.
- Be able to give advice for welding procedures with all your ideas to make the job run smoothly and better.
- Be able to use a computer to document all jobs you are working on and completing.
- Must have basic knowledge of ISO
- Experience with steel, aluminum, titanium, copper, and stainless steel
Education and experience
- 5+ years on the job experience or Associates degree/technical school with 2+ years on the job experience
- Ability to perform structurally sound and top quality MIG welds in the flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Experience with MIG welding (a plus)
- Experience with breaks, shears, drill press, manual lathe and manual Bridgeport’s highly preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, calipers, tape measures and angle gauges
Working Conditions
- Ability to lift heavy items up to 60 pounds required
- Will work while standing, sitting, squatting, and lifting throughout the day/shift
