Job Description
Responsibilities: As a Welder, your responsibilities will include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Connect cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, and wire feed speed as required.
- Start power supply to produce electric current.
- Strike (form) arc which generates heat to melt and deposit metal from electrode to workpiece and join edges of the workpiece.
- Manually guide the gun along the weld line, maintaining the length of arc and speed of movement to form a specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from the color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle.
- Weld in flat and horizontal positions.
- Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
- Chip off excess weld and spatter.
- Position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in a jig or fixture.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, planning, and prioritization abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving, deductive reasoning, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate our core values.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to pass the required drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience as a welder.
