Warehouse Supervisor

Position Summary

Directs the daily warehouse activities including our staffing levels, warehouse storage capacity, inventory, shipments in and out and provides overall support and guidance to transportation operations. The manager coordinates with leadership in crafting short and longer-term strategies to ensure that the warehouse operations run smoothly and in a cost effective manner. In addition, introduces and oversees systems and activities to maintain oversight of overall improvement in business processes; operational systems; productivity; and monitors metrics and indices reflecting performance.

Essential Responsibilities

• Monitor, develop and coordinate the daily warehousing plan to utilizing equipment, manpower, and other resources to ensure that work assignments are completed on timely and as ordered.
• Ensure necessary resources of labor, equipment and time are available to allow maximum productivity of staff.
• Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, labor plan/labor cost and forecast data to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives.
• Participates in the implementation of new customers to include but not limited to; assisting in determining rate schedule, planning required manpower to meet Service Level agreements, writing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures, etc.
• Establishes operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
• Conducts studies in areas of packaging, warehousing, and loading of commodities and evaluates existing procedures and standards.
• Guarantee shipments, timelines, and work efficiency goals are met.
• Communicate and implement company goals consistent with established company policies and procedures.

• Conducts performance reviews and staff meetings to assure employee satisfaction, constructive communication, increased knowledge and consistency of operations.

• Maintain staff schedules, coordinating changes as needed.

• Develop and maintain warehouse meetings.

• Ensure timely and accurate data entry of all services performed.

• Maintain and develop strong working relationship with Operations and Customer Service staff.

• Interfaces with customer to ensure satisfaction of customer requirements and requests.

• Develop and implement development plan and training for warehouse staff.
• Executes, monitors, and enhances safety and security procedures to ensure a safe work environment and reduce all safety related occurrences.
• Recruit qualified candidates as need for open positions.
• Supervise and assign specific responsibilities to all warehouse personnel.

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

• Three (3) years' experience in transportation

• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in warehouse management

• Bi-Lingual a plus

• Strong organizational skills

• Strong team building and interpersonal skills.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

• Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.

• Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing information quickly.

• Ability to keep tight deadlines.

Work Environment

• Warehouse Environment

• Exposure to outdoors in the heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions

• Required to use protective equipment.

• Willing to work after hours when needed.

Physical Efforts

• Generally not required, or up to 30 pounds occasionally, 0 pound frequently
• Ability to sit for long periods of time frequently, stand/walk for long periods of time occasionally.
• Capability to operate forklifts.
