- Assist the Director of Transportation with purchasing, receiving, and inventory duties
- Receive all deliveries arriving at the warehouse
- Type correspondence, requisitions, reports, memos, etc., as directed
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries; check deliveries against purchase orders to assure proper count/materials, maintain inventory records of items stored at warehouse, and enter all items received into computer system daily
- Check deliveries to verify for accuracy and damages
- Transport District mail, documents, and supplies, as assigned
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area and warehouse environment
- Maintain bus routing management system, updating information as necessary
- Provide classroom and behind-the-wheel training for school bus drivers according to District and DPS standards
- Drive any school bus and/or any school van safely to transport students over any scheduled routes and/or any special excursions (field trips, athletic events) for absent bus drivers
- Assist students and other passengers to provide for safe loading and unloading from buses during normal and emergency transport
- Administer first aid and medical assistance to provide appropriate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured students
- Assess potential emergency situations and take appropriate action to protect the safety and well-being of passengers
- Instruct students in the rules and regulations of safe bus riding and evacuation procedures
- Manage and handle conduct of students and passengers while they are on the bus
- Inform school and/or district personnel of practices and incidents, providing information for proper procedures
- Prepare documentation to provide appropriate personnel with written support and/or to convey information
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections when assigned to driving a bus
- Report any discrepancies to vehicle maintenance following proper procedures
- Do not drive an unsafe bus; maintain cleanliness and sanitation of bus
- Complete required paperwork and keep route sheet current
- Attend training programs to maintain skills and meet requirements of school bus certificate
- Perform additional duties efficiently and willingly, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education, Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and/or Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Good command of business English and ability to write letters using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Knowledge of basic warehousing and receiving procedures
- Knowledge of and ability to use standard office machines
- Ability to maintain database with student routing and demographics
- Knowledge of and experience with computerized inventory systems, preferred
- Ability to organize and to prioritize work assignments to be completed in a timely manner and to effectively manage multiple projects
- Ability to safely operate a forklift and other warehouse equipment
- Good physical condition and able to safely lift up to and including 100 pounds
- Valid Arizona Commercial Driver's License
- Valid Arizona driver's license with good driving record
- Knowledge of Arizona Minimum Standards for School Buses and School Bus Drivers
- Knowledge of Arizona traffic laws
- Proficient demonstration of driving skills; ability to drive under pressure
- Ability to train school bus drivers in behind-the-wheel and classroom training
- Ability to read and understand routes, maps and schedules; knowledge of street and school locations within the district preferred
- Ability to work varying driving assignments and to drive a variety of buses (regular and special ed)
- Ability to effectively communicate using a two-way radio
- Ability to maintain rapport and composure with parents, students, staff, and the general public
- Ability to relate to the public, staff and administration in a positive manner
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with district employees and public
- Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with others in a clear and precise manner
- Respect for confidentiality of records, correspondence, and conferences/discussions
