This position will be located at NASA’s Langley Research Center.
Pay Rate: Up to $20.00 hour based on qualifications.
This position is directly in support of the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC), in Hampton, Virginia. The Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering (CMOE) contract is comprised of three major categories of work – operations, maintenance, and engineering (OME).
- Maintenance – Research and institutional facility maintenance includes, but not limited to, preventive maintenance, trouble calls, repairs, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Facility Condition Assessment (FCA), and maintenance/operation of central utilities (e.g., electrical power distribution, potable water, storm water drainage)
- Operations – Facilities Operations support includes, but not limited to, wind tunnels, laboratories, and test stands testing, instrumentation calibration/repair; plant and utilities (e.g., high pressure air, Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) and Steam Plant); technology development and administration, including, but not limited to, Facility Automation Systems (FAS) and Data Acquisition Systems (DAS)
- Engineering – Facility engineering includes, but not limited to, engineering studies, design, construction, construction management, configuration management, tactical engineering, pressure system recertification, project management/planning support.
The parts, tools, materials, and supplies used on the CMOE contract are received an issued at the CMOE warehouse on NASA Langley. This location also supports the company vehicle fleet of trucks and work vehicles. This position requires occasional driving of company vehicles on-center and driving of company vehicles off-center to pick up supplies or ferry vehicles to and from vehicle maintenance shops. Work requires skill in verification of documents and operating hand or power trucks. Requires an understanding of the establishment’s storage plan.
The Warehouse Specialist will perform a variety of warehousing duties to include the following:
– Verifies materials against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages.
– Routing materials to prescribed bin locations.
– Stacking or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed methods.
– Rearranging and taking inventory of material throughout the warehouse.
– Examining stored material and reporting deterioration and damage.
– Operating forklifts, operate box truck to make pickups and delivery in and around the local area.
– Transporting vehicles to shops in the local area for repairs.
– Data entry and data integrity
Qualifications:U.S. Citizenship required. Requires minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience including familiarity with hand and power trucks. Must be a good communicator both orally and in writing. Must be proficient in the use of MS Outlook, MS word, and MS Excel. Experience with MAXIMO or Government property is a plus. Excellent driving record from DMV.
Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs. (50 %)

Warehouse/Light Industrial (50%) – Areas of shelving with walkways, moving forklifts or pallet jacks. Accessing storage lockers for hazardous propellants, chemicals, and industrial fluids. Travel between various facilities and off-center is required and may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation (10%)
