Job Description
Summary:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all warehouse operations, including managing a team of 17 employees during the off-season and up to 40 employees and temporary employees during the peak season. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the warehouse, maintaining inventory accuracy, and meeting customer service standards.
Salary Range: $60k - $80k DOE
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership:
· Lead, mentor, and develop a team of warehouse personnel.
· Collaborate with HR to guarantee optimal staffing levels during peak season and oversee the coordination of hiring and training as required.
· Set performance expectations, conduct regular evaluations, and provide constructive feedback.
2. Inventory Management:
· Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods within the warehouse.
· Implement and maintain inventory control procedures to ensure accurate tracking and minimize discrepancies.
· Monitor inventory levels and initiate restocking activities as needed.
· Prepare and execute inventory and cycle counting.
3. Operational Efficiency:
· Optimize warehouse processes and layout to maximize space and efficiency.
· Streamline order fulfillment and shipping processes to meet customer demands.
4. Quality Control:
· Enforce quality standards for handling, packaging, and shipping of products.
· Conduct regular quality checks and address any issues promptly.
5. Vendor and Supplier Coordination:
· Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely deliveries and maintain positive relationships.
· Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate favorable terms and contracts.
6. Data Analysis and Reporting:
· Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess warehouse efficiency and make data-driven improvements.
· Generate regular reports for management, summarizing warehouse performance, and suggesting enhancements.
7. Budget Control:
· Manage the warehouse budget, including labor costs, equipment maintenance, and other operational expenses.
8. Warehouse Safety:
· Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety protocols and procedures to create a secure work environment for all warehouse personnel.
· Conduct regular safety training sessions to ensure staff members are well-versed in safety practices and emergency procedures.
· Perform routine safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and take corrective actions to mitigate risks promptly.
· Stay updated on safety regulations and industry best practices.
· Collaborate with HR to investigate and document workplace accidents or incidents, conducting root cause analyses and implementing preventative measures.
· Foster a safety-conscious culture among warehouse staff through communication, recognition, and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Ensure the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and machinery within the warehouse.
· Proactively address any safety concerns raised by team members and implement solutions to enhance overall warehouse safety.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field (preferred).
· Experience in operations, purchasing and supply chain operations.
· Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager or similar role.
· Strong leadership and team management skills.
· Knowledge of warehouse inventory control methods.
· Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
· Experience with UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, and Pacejet 3rd party shipping software.
· Experience with ERP system, NetSuite is a plus.
· Sit-down and stand-up forklift experience in a fast-paced environment.
· Can operate a pallet jack.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment. Must be able to bend, lift, and stoop without difficulty. Can lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Working Conditions:
· Warehouse environment with exposure to variable temperatures.
