Job Description
The Warehouse and Logistics Manager is responsible for the storage, distribution, inventory management and records maintenance of items in the warehouse. The emphasis is on the receipt and proper storage of property. This person has to plan, develop, track manufacturing as well as do logistics and distribution of the product.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The Warehouse and Logistics Manager must look after the entire planning process, including procurement, inventory control, distribution, and logistics.
- Is responsible for making sure that each step of the process is being performed effectively to rule out lost sales opportunity and costly delays.
- Must constantly communicate with key personnel and line managers in the procurement, manufacturing, inventory control, distribution, and logistics department of the organization to ensure that they understand his objectives.
- Must examine the process at hand and take steps for improvement and cost reduction.
- Must maintain good relationships with vendors and ensure that the flow of materials remain unhampered.
- Analyzing delivery and inventory issues and providing solutions.
- Arrange the distribution of the product and ensure that sales can be achieved effectively.
- Ensure that all items shipped out are in good condition.
- Management consists of the receipt and storage of property, reserve space allocation for property and items, and management of specialized storage requirements.
- Another responsibility is to ensure that all receipts are processed in a timely manner and accurately.
- Inventory management is the process of collecting information on items that are in stock, properly identifying items and correcting discrepancies concerning items related to their quantity, nomenclature, item identification and part numbers.
- Records maintenance also includes establishment of stock levels and order quantities for items.
- Ensure accuracy of documentation (packing slips, sales orders, trailers)
- Hire, train, supervise, motivate and develop warehouse staff.
- Plan production/staffing needs on a daily, weekly, period basis.
Safety
- Actively participate in safety committee
- Enforce PPE within department and throughout the plant
- Develop safety rules within department and throughout the plant
- Develop safety guidelines for the warehouse department
- Actively participate in behavior-based safety program
Continuous Improvement
- Actively participate in and lead continuous improvement efforts
- Encourage enthusiasm and participation among employees
5S Workplace Organization
- Develop 5S map for warehouse based on usage and frequency
- Obtain all necessary supplies/materials to complete warehouse 5S
- Ensure events will not interfere with daily production (choose appropriate cleaning times, build safety stock as appropriate, etc.)
Requirements
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
- Warehouse management: 3-5 years (Preferred)
- Spanish fluent
- Computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Supervising and Training skills.
- Organizational skills and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, direct others and work well under pressure
- Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to effectively coach individual team members.
- Ability to lift, push, pull and carry 40 pounds
- Some overtime and weekend work required during peak season
