Warehouse First Line Supervisor

Provides supervision and participate in the operations of the District warehouse.  The position is responsible for supervising subordinate warehouse staff; ordering, stocking and issuing supplies and materials; processing accounts payable; maintaining inventory and other records and reports, oversees the maintenance of board vehicles and equipment, and performing related work as required.  The position works under general supervision independently developing work methods and sequences.

1. Supervises and participates in the procurement and inventory of supplies and materials for District operations and maintenance.
2.  Supervises subordinate warehouse staff as assigned, including training, delegating tasks, maintaining standards, acting on employee problems, and recommending employee discipline; may complete periodic employee performance evaluations.
3.  Ensures staff compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.
4.  Communicates with vendors as necessary to expedite deliveries and resolve shipping/invoicing discrepancies and problems with product quality.
5.  Unloads and receives materials into stock; maintains neat and orderly warehouse. Plans, assigns, and verifies storage locations for the expected receipts of inbound goods and ensures inventory is being stored and picked in FIFO order.
6.  Conducts periodic inventory counts; prepares and maintains accurate and up-to-date inventory records.
7.  Issues and/or delivers supplies and materials to District personnel.
8.  Prepares a variety of required records, reports and correspondence.
9.  May operate vehicles, trucks, forklifts, and power and hand tools as necessary; supervises the proper maintenance of assigned tools and equipment.
10.  Receives and responds to inquiries, complaints and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility.
11.  Performs a variety of clerical work as required, including but not limited to typing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, entering and retrieving computer data, sending and receiving faxes and e-mails, answering the telephone.
12.  Attends training, meetings, seminars and/or workshops as required to enhance job knowledge and skills.
13.  Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Requires a High School diploma or equivalent plus 3 years of experience.

• Ability to operate and be certified on warehouse equipment.
• Knowledge of warehouse management systems and techniques.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of regulations and practices pertaining to storage of a variety of materials.
• Solid knowledge and background in purchasing and management skills required.
• Extensive knowledge of inventory systems, inventory control and district policies and procedures governing the purchasing and issuing of materials.

Physical Demands: Requires heavy work involving standing, walking, bending, stooping, balancing, grasping and reaching overhead, repetitive use of the arms and legs, lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds and heavier amounts with the assistance of dollies, material handling or motorized equipment etc. on a regular basis. Some dexterity in operating office equipment. Must be able to use hands and fingers.

Unavoidable Hazards:  The position may be exposed to extreme heat/cold, wet or humid conditions, bright/dim lights, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, disease/pathogens, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals.
