Job description

Durango School District 9R is accepting applications for a Warehouse Clerk. This position is a 10 Month position and also works one day per week in the summer. During the 10 month time, the position is a 3 days per week at 8 hours/day. The 3 days of the week need to occur between Tuesday-Friday on a set schedule; there is flexibility in determining which thress days with the candidate selected. Includes life, health and dental insurance as well as paid sick leave and personal leave benefits. Begins January 16, 2024.

SUMMARY: Responsible for receiving, inventorying, maintaining, supplies, equipment, parcels and other resources from
central warehouse. Deliver warehouse materials, mail, supplies and other resources to customers throughout the district; pull
orders in warehouse for delivery; pick up and transfer discarded and other items as directed by supervisor; and transfer
materials to or from storage or to designated areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to

  • Provides customer service support for departments, and schools. Assists customers, with their needs related to the warehouse services and provides information needed or requested.
  • Load items received/processed at the Central Warehouse.
  • Responsible for, loading, unloading trucks including items from pallets, bins, racks and shelves, which may include, but are not limited to, heavy items such as furniture, appliances, and equipment; deliver to designated locations.
  • As needed, pick-up supplies, parts, tools, and equipment from local vendors and deliver to staff and departments. Pick up discarded items, equipment or materials. Assist customers with products and deliveries.
  • Transport items, throughout the school district, to all facilities.
  • May assist with picking up cash/checks from school offices and kitchens.
  • Prepare letters/packages for processing with the United States Postal Service, UPS, and Federal Express including metering mail.
  • As needed, support the management of the districts fixed assets including, but not limited to creating and affixing asset tags, recording assets received and disbursed as well as physical inventory check of assets.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse.
  • Perform pre-trip inspection on assigned truck in accordance with the Colorado Code of Regulations and District guidelines, including checking oil, tires and maintaining all fluids at the proper levels. Complete daily post-trip inspections, including checking the condition of the truck. Maintain the cleanliness of the truck interior. Keep outside mirrors and driver's windows clean inside and out. Fuel vehicles per department guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent. Any combination of education, training, and
experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential job functions of the position.
EXPERIENCE: Experience is preferred but may not be necessary for hiring.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: Criminal background check required for hire. Valid Colorado
driver's license.
TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:
  • Basic problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) in English.
  • Knowledge of city and county road networks and location of schools/facilities in the district.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies and building/department
  • procedures.
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize
  • appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers, printer, copier, scanner, phone system, e-mail
  • Operating knowledge of manual pallet jacks required within 1 month of entering position.
  • Operating knowledge of assigned department vehicle.
  • Completion of district's Small Vehicle Training within one month of hire.
  • Operating knowledge of basic maintenance and emergency equipment including radio, tire chains, flare, etc. required within one month after entering position.
