Warehouse Associate/Driver Helper

Long Island shop that specializes in welding, marine products, office furniture products and installation seeking basic help to assist warehouse, shop, forklift and truck driving responsibilities.

Primary Roles

• operating swing mast forklift to pull orders
• Receiving and inspecting product for damage and entering driver into inventory system and labeling via excel and word
• pulling required components for project, clean and refurbish and prep for delivery
• utilizing excel and windows to label and update inventory
• refinishing and paint of parts and cleaning of office furniture,
• proper packaging of product, loading and unloading of trucks
• Refacing tiles and panels with new fabrics
• assisting with metalwork and marine electronic work when need arises.
• driving truck to jobsites and assisting onsite with installations
• maintaining and cleaning office, shop and company vehicles
• completing whatever other task that is requested of you.

Ideal candidate

This job is an beginner type position but it has lot of room for candidate to move upwards. Much of what you need to know to perform certain tasks will be taught to you so specific experience is not required but would be helpful. Basically you are here to do what needs to get done and its not task specific.

The candidate should be motivated and hustler, if you ever been told to hurry it up, and enjoy taking your time or have ever been referred to as slow, it’s not going to work out.

A Valid CLEAN NYS license and working cell phone is pretty much required for this job.

You must be fluent in English and literate to a high school graduate level.

The candidate mechanically inclined, handy with hand tools and power tools, have a pretty good understanding carpentry and fabrication. If you are type that likes building things, this is a great job as we have all the tools you could possibly want to make anything and the ability to teach you how to use them,

Attentiveness and attention to detail is very important. If you’re the type of person that has to be told to do over a task because it was not done well enough first time, then you would not be a good match , look elsewhere.

Punctuality is important. If work starts at 8 AM, you should be at site at least 10 minutes early so you can take care of your personal needs and be ready to start work at 8,

If you are the type of worker that comes in at 8:01 every day, always late or consistently using the phrase “ I overslept” please look elsewhere.

If you are always tired, have driving, cell phone, substance, or money issues also look elsewhere.

If you have ever used the phrase “that’s not my job” .. Here is a tip, If the staff asks you complete a task, it’s your job.

Preferred skills

• Valid driver’s license

Ideally the candidate would have some experience tools, warehousing, driving box truck, forklift and carpentry experience, proficient at answering phone and returning calls and fluent in Word and Excel.

Other than that this is pretty simple position. If you are good with your hands and can understand blueprints, can drive forklift and trucks, can act in professional manner and show up early on time every day, then this is a good opportunity to both learn and move up ladder as we also have opportunities in furniture installation, welding and the marine electronics business that we would prefer to train from ground up.

• 8 hour shift

• Weekends as needed
