Ikoyi is an upscale restaurant and lounge opening soon in the heart of Downtown Newark. Ikoyi brings the best of West African culture & cuisine to New Jersey.

Our cuisine has a mix of exotic flavors adding an African and Caribbean twang to each item on the menu. The restaurant has a lovely aesthetic and the attention to detail is undeniable. During the day, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a lunchtime meal or brunch. By evening, Ikoyi becomes a lounge, serving late dinner and providing the perfect ambiance.

We are seeking to hire several positions: Waiters, Servers, Bussers, Food Runners, Host, Hostesses, Bartenders, Assistant Cooks to become an integral part of our team!

We are seeking a Waiter Waitress to become an integral part of our team! You will take orders and serve food to patrons at the dining establishment.

Responsibilities:

• Serve food and beverages to guests
• Explain to guests about menu items
• Clean and prepare the dining areas
• Greet and make all guests feel welcome at the restaurant
• Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely fashion
• Perform other restaurant duties as assigned
• Assist with bussing and cleaning tables as needed

Skills andQualifications:

• Previous experience in customer service, food service, or other related fields
• Ability to build rapport with guests
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills to interact with guests and team members
• Strong hospitality skills to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests
• Knowledge of guest services to provide a positive dining experience
• Uphold the restaurant's standards of service and hospitality at all times

Food Runner and Busser:

• Serve food and beverages to guests
• Explain to guests about menu items
• Clean and prepare the dining areas
• Greet and make all guests feel welcome at the restaurant
• Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely fashion
• Perform other restaurant duties as assigned
• Clean tables

Host Hostess:

• Greet and welcome guests with a warm and friendly demeanor
• Manage the waiting list and seating arrangements efficiently during peak dining hours
• Communicate effectively with the kitchen staff, servers, and management team to ensure smooth operation
• Answer phone calls and assist callers with reservations and inquiries
• Proficient phone etiquette to handle incoming calls and reservations
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the host/hostess station
• Provide accurate wait times and monitor the dining room flow
• Assist in resolving customer complaints or issues to ensure guest satisfaction

Prep Cook/ Line Cook/Assistant Cook:

• Help prepare all served food
• Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours
• Memorize, record, and comprehend menu items, abbreviations, plate appearance, and portions
• Follow standard recipes and special diet orders
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances
• Assisting the Chef in food preparation activities, such as cleaning, cutting, chopping and peeling food ingredients

Bartenders:

• Mix traditional and creative mocktails
• Create special crafted drinks, shakes, smoothies for guests
• During the morning/day shift, make espresso/cafe drinks
• Process payments
• Clean glasses and bar utensils
• Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences
• Open and maintain tabs throughout their shift
• Knowledge of mixology for traditional and creative mocktails preferred
• Understanding of unique and complementary flavor pairings
• Impeccable customer service and social perceptiveness
• Ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and be responsive
• Accountability in maintaining inventory and processing payments
• Physical ability to stand or walk for long periods of time

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $14.50 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
