JOB SUMMARY
The Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) provides vision and direction in the areas of educational policy, instructional planning, program review, accreditation, supervision, faculty development, and resource management. The VPAA is a member of the President's Leadership Team and works collaboratively with other divisions to foster institutional and student success.
MAJOR DUTIES
• Plans and organizes the Academic Affairs unit's work to achieve the goals of the College and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG).
• Proposes, gains approval for, and supervises the implementation of new and revised academic programs.
• Recommends the implementation or discontinuance of Academic programs.
• Supervises institutional effectiveness initiatives, including SACSCOC and programmatic accreditations.
• Develops and implements an education plan to ensure faculty, staff, instructional space, and resources are adequate to comply with federal/state guidelines, accreditation standards, and institutional expectations.
• Develops and maintains a strong program of faculty development and in-service activities.
• Oversees the planning and implementation of all facets of instructional delivery, including distance learning and collaborative instruction with TCSG.
• Manages and oversees financial/budget operations of the division and collaborates with the chief financial officer to establish budgets and ensure compliance with procurement and travel regulations.
• Promotes and supports the College's enrollment management plan by ensuring attainment of Academic program goals, including dual enrollment.
• Collaborates with the Vice President of Student Affairs to resolve student complaints and student conduct cases when applicable.
• Monitors the performance of personnel to ensure compliance with College and TCSG policies and procedures and evaluates employees at scheduled intervals.
• Oversees the regular assessment and evaluation of services provided and programs offered and makes adjustments as needed.
• Maintains up-to-date policies, procedures, and state or federal laws that may impact department initiatives.
• Coordinates and oversees the strategic planning process for the college.
• Supervises branch campus directors, and ensures the activities and programs are implemented effectively in collaboration with other members of the leadership team as needed.
• Coordinates program grant proposals with the Grants Coordinator and Academic Affairs deans.
• Ensures students have appropriate academic support through library, tutoring, and other services.

• Skill to work collaboratively with community leaders, students, faculty, and staff
• Skill to make timely decisions that advance the College
• Skill in developing and maintaining partnerships with community leaders, area businesses, and industry executives
• Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs
• Ability to solve problems effectively and resourcefully
• Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
• Strong oral and written communication skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• A Master's degree *and* three (3) years of related work experience in academic administration
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Earned doctorate
• Successful experience with leading SACSOC and programmatic accreditation efforts
• Knowledge of the academic policies and procedures of the Technical College System of Georgia
• Prior achievements in educational and student success initiatives
• Successful experience with grant writing and management
