This opportunity is in the Information Technology Department.

Role Description:
In the newly created role of Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO), you will be a key member of the IT senior leadership team. You will collaborate with and support the strategic direction and organizational philosophy set by the Chief Information Officer (CIO) through identification and execution of tactical and operational initiatives to support that strategy. The DCIO provides senior level leadership, planning, effective oversight and accountability for all operational and functional areas of the IT Department: Infrastructure & Operations, Software Engineering, IT Business Office (Lean Portfolio Management and Product Management), and IT Financial Management. You will work closely with the CIO and CISO to formulate the Company's IT strategy in support of delivering operational and innovative excellence and by doing so will have a profound and lasting impact felt throughout Safety National.
One of your primary responsibilities as VP & Deputy CIO will be oversight management, training, recruitment, professional development, and performance management for the IT workforce. Additional day-to-day responsibilities as VP & Deputy CIO include executing on tactical initiatives in support of the IT strategy in pursuit of business goals. You will be responsible for prioritizing technology initiatives with the IT Business Office and coordinating the evaluation, procurement, deployment, and management of current technologies in support of IT strategic initiatives. Additionally, you will serve as a business technology strategist supporting existing and future business needs by working closely with Executive Management, the IT Steering Committee, the Operations Committee and critical business stakeholders. This position works in partnership with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to ensure that information security, data privacy, and compliance with internal controls and external regulations are integrated seamlessly into the solutions we enable for Safety National.
The ideal candidate is an experienced senior IT leader who has an ability to lead stable operations, while delivering on strategic projects that are innovative and impactful. Professional communication skills including the ability to discuss complex technical information with a wide variety of audiences in an influential, clear, and respectful way is expected. Finally, a proven record in Lean Portfolio Management and agile product team management, with a focus on the Scaled Agile Framework for enterprises (SAFe) and successful delivery of complex technology projects is highly desired.

Qualifications:
Education:

  • A bachelor's in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Networking, Computer Engineering or a related field is preferred

Required Qualifications:
  • 15 or more years' of experience in the IT industry
  • 10 or more years' experience managing and/or directing technological operations.
  • Proven success in Lean Portfolio Management and agile product team management
  • Prior leadership experience delivering complex technology projects using the Scaled Agile Framework for enterprises (SAFe) methodology
  • Extensive knowledge of on-premise and cloud technologies, software engineering, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems
  • Demonstrates business and financial acumen including budget creation, financial analysis, managing expenditures and office operations
  • An absolute commitment to maintaining information security, data privacy, and confidentiality and establishes an environment and culture that aligns to that commitment
  • Must be able to work a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days per week in office at our company's Headquarters located at 1832 Schuetz Rd. St. Louis, Missouri

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in the P&C Insurance industry preferred
  • Technical experience in one or more of the following: networking, databases, software development, or user support.

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location.
