Vp Controller

POSITION SUMMARY: The Controller will be the Chief Accounting employee in the finance function. He or she will also have obligations/responsibility for additional non-accounting functions in the areas of risk management, treasury, budgeting and forecasting and other areas as deemed appropriate. This position also acts as the liaison with financial government regulators and the outside audit firm in providing required information and ensuring proper information is maintained and documented for historical purposes. This position also coordinates with all levels of management, within and outside the company to gather, analyze, summarize and prepare recommendations for financial plans, operating forecasts, etc.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for all areas of the accounting function and the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements at month-end, quarter end and year end.

• Designs and implements effective financial and business reporting on an ongoing basis for the purpose of better management of the business.
• Prepares annual operating plan and financial forecasts, which include income statements, balance sheets and cash flows for parent company and all subsidiaries.
• Directs the annual audit with the external audit firm and all other financial audits performed by RI DBR, Mass DOI, etc.
• Responsible for cash management including the timely investment of funds in appropriate financial instruments in accordance with the company investment policy.
• Responsible for management of business insurance in conjunction with the Company's outside legal counsel.
• Responsible for tax planning and the timely filing of all required tax returns.
• Provide Management with assistance in other areas as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• 7-10 years experience of progressively increasing responsibility in the area of accounting or auditing is required Insurance industry experience is preferred
• CPA, MS in Accounting, MBA or equivalent required with demonstrated experience in technical accounting issues and practices from both a GAAP and SAAP point of view.
• Prior supervision or direction of subordinates is required.
• Proven demonstration of integrity, confidentiality and flexibility.

• Demonstrated interpersonal and effective communication skills are essential.
• Knowledge of computerized financial accounting systems and internal systems control environments.

Entry Level Training Required (If Any)

• Knowledge of the dental claims and billing software and procedures utilized by DDRI such that all required procedures can be completed and supervised. Familiarity with regulatory agencies and the corresponding reporting requirements at the Federal, State, and Local levels.
