Overview:
Convergia is looking for a qualified VoIP Network Specialist to oversee the installation and management of our VoIP network. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and deploying enterprise solution architecture, coordinating installations and migrations, and managing SLAs for IP telephony applications. You may also be required to troubleshoot LAN and WAN hardware systems and respond to customer inquiries.
To ensure success as a VoIP network engineer, you should have advanced knowledge of VoIP networking systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, and knowledge of internet security. A top-class VoIP network engineer will design and deploy the perfect networking system to meet the company's current and future networking needs. The candidate must have strong oral, and written communications skills in English. Great to have French and/or Spanish proficiency.
Responsibilities:
· Meeting with IT managers to determine the company's networking needs.
· Analyzing existing VoIP networks and computer systems.
· Developing architecture plans for voice and data services.
· Installing network hardware modules, including IP and PBX communication servers.
· Designing and implementing Cisco Unity systems.
· Troubleshooting VoIP network issues.
· Analyzing and upgrading network security systems and protocols.
· Adding network users and managing company permissions.
· Optimizing network installations for future expansion.
· Training staff on network and system protocols.
· Helpdesk management, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
· Identify, diagnose, and resolve moderately complex to complex issues affecting the customer network services. Address issues escalated from Level 1 technicians.
· Ensure that customer network services are configured and operating according to policy and best practice standards.
· Create and maintain documentation as it relates to customer network services.
· Monitors network performance using available software tools and monitoring hardware.
· Alerts supervisor or more experienced technicians of network failures or degradation and performs corrective action.
· Installs, configures, and tests new network hardware and updates to network software.
· Familiarity with Cisco networking products and interfacing through Cisco CLI and all Tier 1 brand Firewall appliances.
· Experience with LEC circuit identification and topology.
· Maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for a wide range of customers and technology platforms.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a similar field.
· Previous experience working as a VoIP Network Specialist.
· In-depth knowledge of VoIP systems and IP Protocols.
· Knowledge of hardware systems, including servers, memory modules, processors, and peripherals.
· Detailed knowledge of network security systems and software.
· Good project management skills.
· Familiarity with WAN and LAN systems.
· Excellent troubleshooting skills.
· Fluent in spoken and written English. Spanish/French would be an asset.
· Understanding of networking concepts, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, Routing, Switching
· Previous experience working within a NOC (Network Operations Center)
· Previous experience supporting small/medium-sized businesses.
· Microsoft Office 365 management
· Scripting knowledge (CLI, Batch)
Work Schedule/Travel:
Work Schedule/Travel: Standard Convergia business hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST with a hybrid work model (3 days office, 2 days remote). No travel is required.
