Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Phonics and Spelling Tutor to join our team, delivering virtual phonics lessons that will enhance the language skills of our elementary students. Our approach goes beyond conventional tutoring – our tutors are virtual companions who make learning phonics a joyful and exciting journey. We are looking for an individual who can inspire and motivate young learners in their quest to master phonics and spelling.

As an elementary phonics tutor, your role will be pivotal in fostering a dynamic learning environment that caters to students' needs while being attuned to their emotional and social development.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct virtual tutoring sessions through platforms like Zoom, leveraging a range of interactive features proficiently.
• Utilize various virtual educational tools and games to complement lessons effectively.
• Design and present lessons that encourage students' comprehension and practical application of phonetic concepts.
• Develop and distribute relevant teaching materials to support the learning process.
• Explain phonics principles using clear and accessible language to ensure understanding.
• Assess assignments promptly and provide constructive feedback as needed.
• Monitor students' progress, offering guidance for improvement, and addressing any behavioral concerns empathetically.
• Cultivate a safe and encouraging virtual learning space that stimulates active participation.
• Adapt teaching techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles and aptitudes.

Experience/Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in teaching children.
• Proficiency in phonics instruction, including phonetic principles, sound-symbol relationships, blending, and segmentation.
• Ability to create engaging lessons that foster understanding and application of phonics concepts.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Requirements:

• Personal laptop or desktop computer, either Mac or Windows, not more than 5 years old, with compatible hardware and software.
• Familiarity with Zoom and the ability to install and use it effectively.
• Dedicated, well-lit, and quiet environment suitable for hosting virtual classes.
• Flexibility in setting working hours while adhering to chosen class schedules.

Please Note: Pay is Firm.

This position offers a compensation of $16 per hour of class time. Classes typically range from 20 to 60 minutes, with the following pay structure: $8 for a 30-minute class, $12 for a 45-minute class, and $16 for a one-hour class.
