Position Goal: The Video Production Assistant provides high-quality video content and assists with a large social media presence for the Hatboro-Horsham School District (HHSD). Capturing community, educational and athletic events and communicating them out to the public is an essential function of this position. The ability to capture video and photographs during District events, edit them into refined video clips or finished photographs, and broadcast them on social media is essential. Assisting with planning and producing live events, strong video editing skills with quick turnaround, and mentoring and supervising students involved in the Video Production program is also required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Video Production:
  • Assist with selection, recording and video editing of key community events for rebroadcast by our AV Production Team to help foster community engagement and awareness.
  • Supervise and mentor students who are participating in the recording of events as part of our Video Production curriculum to foster growth.
  • Skilled in use of Adobe Premier Pro (or comparable software packages), digital cameras and video cameras, and Tricaster/NDI broadcast technology.
  • Ability to edit video packages of events in a professional and timely manner and publish to social media.
  • Ability to lift/recording equipment (up to 50 pounds) to stage cameras and microphones for recording of events.

Social Media:
  • Assist in maintaining the District social media presence, demonstrating familiarity with best practices and processes for updating the most common social media platforms - Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, and others as they emerge.
  • Support other members of the District at an individual, school building or department level who wish to post social media content.
  • Deliver training to the District Staff on topics related to communication, media standards, and social media as requested.
  • Promote the district's strengths/achievements and its solution to problems; including publicizing student, faculty, and staff achievement.
  • Review analytics of social media engagement.

Website:
  • Maintain the District Website with updates as requested.
  • Assist with creation/editing of visual materials (Canva, brochures, pamphlets, etc.).

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
Work Year: Full-time position - 12 months, 261 days, 8 hours each day. Within the 8-hour schedule, 30 minutes will be unpaid for lunch giving a total of 7.5 hours paid daily. The responsibilities for this position allow for occasional remote work. The anticipated start date is immediate.
Education Level: Associate degree or comparable experience in the field of video recording and editing required. Bachelor's Degree or Media/Arts/Communication Degree preferred.
Specific Skills:
Strong writing and editing skills required
Photography/videography skills required
Graphic design experience preferred
Website design experience preferred
Social Media experience preferred
Willingness to engage and connect with students, staff, and the public at large
