Job Description
The Video Producer oversees end to end video production for our team. In this role, the primary responsibility of the Video Producer will be to brainstorm dynamic video content, plan and execute shoots in and out of the theater, and shoot/capture footage. This position requires a love for storytelling in short form, attention to detail, on the fly problem solving, budgeting and staffing projects, and strong organizational skills
The ideal candidate is also an adept videographer that has the ability to shoot when/if needed. The Video Producer will work under the direction of the Creative Manager while collaborating with the entire Marathon Digital team.
Pre-Production
- Alongside the Creative Manager and Senior Video Producer, collaborate in the planning of all video shoots to ensure concepts are executable.
- Storyboard and troubleshoot concepts ahead of shoots to ensure quality capture.
- Identify and place team members in various roles.
- When necessary, scout and reserve shoot locations
- Develop production schedules and keep the team up to speed on progress.
- Reserve and rent equipment/props.
- Oversee budget and logistics for a range of different types of shoots.
On-Set Production
- Have a keen eye and visual aesthetic for both videography and photography; be able to execute both mediums on-set and in the field.
- Have a strong understanding of the set environment and be prepared to lead a team in a variety of spaces (e.g. lighting, sound, etc.) and situations.
- Have strengths in mobile content capture, as well as run-and-gun situations.
- Understand how to professionally utilize a wide variety of cameras - from GoPros to DSLRs - have a strong sense of framing, and have the ability to navigate the various proprietary interfaces.
- Familiarity with audio and post production tools and programs.
- Be able to react to and appropriately manage unpredictable events in a calm, positive, and solution-oriented manner (e.g. faulty equipment, environmental factors, client requests, etc.).
- Be a supportive and comforting presence when dealing with on-set talent and other professionals.
Post-Production
- Maintain a solid understanding of the different forms of video media and be able to knowledgeably and safely handle and back them up onto a computer and/or hard drive.
- Effectively manage and file many gigabytes/terabytes worth of video data in a way that is logical, accessible, and safe.
- Craft strong, compelling, and shareable stories through sometimes disparate working video material.
- Possess knowledge of Adobe Premiere and After Effects while keeping an eye on what’s new and what’s next in video editing software.
- Possess expert knowledge of video codecs for specific video output channels.
- Have the ability to meet tight deadlines and be malleable to changes in direction and/or creative vision as dictated by the client.
Creative Development & Campaign Strategy
- Under the direction of the Creative Manager collaborate on the digital strategy, creative development, and execution of client video campaigns.
- Coordinate and participate in content brainstorms.
- Conceive video concepts, including, but not limited to, branded content, promotional videos, and campaign series, both short- and long-form.
Internal Administration
- Alongside the Senior Video Producer/Editor, oversee the storage and safekeeping of all in-house video equipment.
- Organize footage, drives, and takes ownership of file management.
- Keep and update an inventory spreadsheet of all in-house video equipment.
- Liaise with equipment retailers and rental companies (e.g. B&H Photo Video, Adorama, Hello World, etc.).
Job Requirements
- 2+ years of video production/videography or relevant experience.
- Experience concepting and executing both photography and video shoots.
- Must be technically proficient in a wide variety of cameras (DSLR, GoPro, 360 cam, Drone, etc.).
- Must be comfortable shooting on a gimbal, monopod, tripod and shoulder rig.
- Must be skilled in mobile content capture and editing for emerging platforms.
- Must have knowledge of lighting, sound capture, framing, and video shooting.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills especially while in the field.
- Must be an expert in Adobe Premiere and After Effects software. Knowledge of ProTools and Logic Pro are a plus.
- Must be able to problem solve on the fly.
- Must be able to quickly adapt to changes in projects and client goals.
- Must have excellent time management skills and have the ability to prioritize.
- Must be comfortable with working in a deadline driven, fast paced environment.
- Must have the ability to work nights and weekends when necessary.
