Video Codec Research Engineer - Platform Architecture

As a Video Codec Research Engineer, you will have responsibilities spanning various aspects of Video Codec standardization and deployment: - Develop new hardware friendly algorithms for future Video Codec standardization - Participate in the next generation compression technology definition and standardization and identify potential implementability issues - Work with the codec architects and the hardware design team to evaluate and reduce the complexity of video coding tools being proposed for standardization - Develop new video encoder algorithms suitable for hardware implementations, such as search space pruning, rate estimation, motion estimation, mode decision, rate-distortion optimization, perceptual quality optimization - Develop scripts for encoder quality evaluation and parameter tuning, and conduct video quality evaluations - Work with the software teams to help optimize the usage of hardware encoding resources across Apple products and use cases
