Opportunity Goal: The VIP Event Assistant assists VIP Coordinators, encompassing tasks such as set up and clean up, supporting registration, and collecting funds.
Service Impact: The VIP Event Assistant is integral to the seamless execution of Victim Impact Panels which are designed to guide drunk and drugged driving offenders in recognizing the lasting effects of substance-impaired driving. By supporting event operations, the assistant contributes to creating an impactful experience that fosters empathy, understanding, and a transformative shift in thinking and behavior to prevent future offenses.
Key Responsibilities
Support on-site VIP Panel
- Support VIP panel operations, including registration, setup, and cleanup.
- Verify identification for both pre-registered and walk-in participants.
- Collect registration fees and assist in assembling deposits.
- Maintain clear and legible documentation.
- Address participant inquiries.

Professionalism. Maintain a professional demeanor and represent the organization positively. Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality when necessary.
Team Collaboration. Ability to work collaboratively with staff and team of volunteers.
Non-judgmental Approach. Ability to maintain a non-judgmental and unbiased attitude when working with people of diverse backgrounds, such as those with possible felonies and other driving-related offenses.
Tech Savvy. Comfortable with technology, such as PowerPoint and other software or have a willingness to learn.
Conflict Resolution. Ability to handle potentially challenging situations diplomatically, making decisions like asking attendees to leave with tact and professionalism and ensuring a positive and constructive atmosphere during volunteer sessions.

- Volunteers cannot have a felony of any kind. Other charges will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- If A VIP Event Assistant has a DWI/DUI . . .
- Repeated DUI/DWI offenders are not permitted to volunteer.
Their case must be fully adjudicated and all facets of their sentence completed including probation.
Offenders will not be permitted to handle money.

Time Commitment: 1.5 - 2 hours per panel. Prefer 1-3 panels/month. Must be able to commit at least 4 panels a year. Most panels are held from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
