Job Summary:

The Vice President of Technology Operations reports directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the Technology Operations (TechOps) division. TechOps is comprised of the Infrastructure Operations (InfraOps) and Development Operations (DevOps) teams each of which is led by a Director. Development Operations is responsible for implementing automation solutions that help increase the speed of SelectQuote’s ability to deliver applications products and features to production. They are responsible for developing the configurations for foundational components to build development test and production environments. They provide guidance oversight and direction for how the Information Technology (IT) organization manages SelectQuote’s infrastructure within the cloud.

The Infrastructure Operations team includes Network Operations (NetOps) Systems Operations (SysOps) and Operations Monitoring (OpsMon). InfraOps provides technical and managerial leadership in the design planning operation maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of SelectQuote's underlying infrastructure which supports the entire company. The team ensures continuity and alignment of SelectQuote’s networks and systems with its proprietary applications tools and third-party products.

The Vice President of Technology Operations (VP of TechOps) provides the strategic direction for the Technology Operations division and ensures the teams have the necessary resources (people technology finances information etc.) to carry out their duties successfully. The VP of TechOps is a member of the IT Senior Management team ensuring continuity across the three Information Technology divisions:

• Information Technology Strategy & Implementation
• Technology & Digital Enablement and
• Artificial Intelligence and Innovation.

The IT Senior Management team has the ultimate responsibility for IT's contributions towards the accomplishment of SelectQuote's organizational goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities over the Director of Infrastructure Operations and the Director of Development Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and execute the strategic vision for Technology Operations aligned with overall company objectives
• Collaborate with executive and other departmental leadership to ensure TechOps supports and enhances SelectQuote's business operations
• Facilitate cross-functional communication and collaboration to seamlessly integrate Technology Operations services with other IT and business functions
• As a member of the Information Technology Leadership Team (IT Directors & above) provide leadership to the entire Information Technology organization

Team Management:

• Lead mentor and manage a high-performing team of Technology Operations professionals
• Foster a culture of collaboration innovation and continuous improvement within the team

Technology Operations Design and Implementation:

• Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to keep the organization at the forefront of industry best practices
• Oversee the design and implementation of scalable secure and resilient solutions
• Oversee the design implementation and maintenance of network architecture to ensure efficient data communication
• Oversee the design implementation and maintenance of the DevOps CI/CD framework
• In partnership with the Security Operations (SecOps) team ensure timely updates patches and security measures for SelectQuote's environment (servers operating systems etc.)

Capacity Planning and Disaster Recovery:

• Based on the defined objectives of SelectQuote's Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery plan assess current and future needs to scale InfraOps and DevOps resources appropriately
• Plan for capacity expansion and optimize resource utilization
• Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery plans; conduct regular testing for effectiveness

Cost Management:

• Develop and manage the Technology Operations budget ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation
• Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining high-quality services

Cloud Infrastructure Management:

• Provision monitor and optimize cloud-based infrastructure services
• Implement best practices for security and cost efficiency in cloud environments

Data Center Operations:

• Manage data center facilities including power cooling and physical security for SelectQuote-managed properties
• Oversee the vendor management of data center operations where a third party is used
• Ensure high availability redundancy and disaster recovery capabilities

Software and Application Support:

• Deploy maintain and support critical software applications
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure compatibility and performance

Operational Excellence:

• Establish and enforce operational policies and procedures to ensure availability performance and security
• Monitor and optimize the performance of networks systems and applications
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Technology Operations team
• Encourage and support the team in identifying and implementing process improvements and efficiency gains
• Cascading from IT Goals; create associate annual performance standards; define and track Objectives and Key Results (OKRs); provide regular reporting to executive leadership on projects performance metrics and areas for improvement
• Systematically evaluate management team and their suitability to continue in respective role

Vendor and Partnership Management:

• Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure quality and cost-effective services
• Negotiate contracts and agreements to maximize value for the organization
• Cultivate strong relationships with technology vendors and partners to stay informed about new products and services
• Evaluate and recommend partnerships aligning with the organization's strategic goals

Security and Compliance:

• In partnership with SecOps implement and enforce security measures to protect the organization's infrastructure
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards in infrastructure operations (ex. SOX HITRUST etc.)

Financial Responsibilities (budget revenue)

This position has budget responsibility authority and/or level of control.
