Job Overview:

Responsible for total Pro & Commercial market sales and profitability performance. Accountable for developing, implementing, and tracking strategic business models and business plans. Responsible for meeting or exceeding all sales, margin, and profit budgets for all business models and plans. Will provide support and direction to Territory Sales Mangers to ensure they meet or exceed sales plans, profitability plans, customer service expectations, segment performance, operating standards, and market share. Accountable to develop, execute, and manage, sales and expense control plans as well as all company-developed commercial marketing programs. Will visit, ride along, and assist in the performance of CAE territories, CSC locations, and Retail Operations. Responsible for generating and supporting regional/market sales opportunities and programs (eg Leslie’s Elite, fax programs, pallet and early buy sales).


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for driving Pro & Commercial sales and profitability to achieve budget, gaining market share, new customer growth, customer retention, and building customer relationships.
  • Accountable for growing commercial sales and profitability.
  • Utilize scorecards for measuring KPIs against key initiatives like focus items, underperforming CSCs, inventory reduction, CAE performance, manual discounting, profitability, etc.
  • Responsible for understanding and reporting market level competitive price points on commercial items,
  • Responsible for ensuring commercial sales and profit objectives are met in CAE, CSC and Store locations.
  • Provide superior customer service, quickly and effectively respond to customer requests.
  • Accountable for Commercial P & L performance in the following areas:
  • Sales
  • Gross Margin
  • Controllable Expenses
  • Develops sales plans and strategies for review and approval of GVP of Commercial Sales & Operations.
  • Promotes and evaluates the sales performance in all business components through customer satisfaction and service, salesmanship and commercial standards measures.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations.
  • Responsible for morale enhancement of all team members. Promote team member recognition programs and develop motivational programs.
  • Monitors the recruiting, selection, and placement process to ensure optimum quality and quantity of bench strength are achieved.
  • Provide timely feedback to commercial, retail operations, and training department on training-related performance issues.
  • Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Travel 30% of the time.

Qualifications:

  • Sales and Profitability Focus: This position requires a strong focus on ensuring sales and profitability plans are achieved through others.
  • Communication: This position requires strong verbal and written communication skills. Director must work with all levels throughout the organization as well as with vendors and customers outside of Leslie’s. They must be able to create well-written, professional correspondence and documentation.
  • Presentation Skills: Director is responsible for supporting the crafting of or conducting sales presentations, so they need to be able to speak effectively in front of others, manage sales focus through others, and establish credibility quickly and easily.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Deliver one-on-one training and coaching sessions with team members. They must demonstrate good listening skills and build rapport quickly.
  • Attention to Detail: Provide support in areas of sales and profitability focus, product knowledge as well as company policies and procedures. They must provide information and answers that are accurate and complete. They should not cut corners to take short-cuts that jeopardize safety, sales, customer service, or operational excellence.
  • Superior Customer Service: Possess an attitude of serving others and helping them grow and develop. Strive to provide the best possible environment for their team and be responsive to requests from the operations team, vendors, and Leslie’s corporate offices.
  • Sound Judgment: Required to exercise good judgment when leading and make decisions that are in the best interest of the company and the team members involved. Possess an “ownership” mentality in building and driving for results. Required to make personnel recommendations to the VP of commercial on ways or processes we can continue to grow.
