The Vice President of Ancillary Services is responsible for over-seeing daily operations of hospital and related organizational entity Ancillary Services as assigned including Tucson Medical Center (TMC) and El Dorado. Development of outpatient service lines. Includes but not limited to Pharmacy, Radiology, Food and Nutrition, Wound Care, Infusion, Pain, Therapies, Laboratory, Cath Lab, Cancer Care. Provides leadership, direction, and administration to assure development and expansion of clinical, financial, and support functions to ensure quality outcomes, compliance, efficiency, and strategic driven growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for managing all operational activities of assigned departments and outside contractors which provide outsourced services for Tucson Medical Center Ancillary Services. Provides input to the TMC CEO for ongoing ancillary operations and assures TMC achievement of goals and objectives related to quality, safety, patient experience, people, growth, and stewardship. Directs the development and implementation of operational procedures and controls that promote communication and excellent information flow throughout the organization. In conjunction with TMC CFO, develops and implements ancillary operating and capital budgets, monitoring progress with course corrections as appropriate. Directs ancillary operations of hospital and other entities, as assigned, to achieve quality, safety, growth, and budget results.
Guides implementation of improvements for assigned entities within the parameters of the strategic plans and available funding.
Adheres to organizational and department-specific safety standards and guidelines. Adheres to TMC values of integrity, diversity, accountability, compassion, and teamwork. Manages employees directly and through subordinates; establishes performance goals, allocates resources and assesses policies for direct subordinates. Directs activities of the departments for which responsible in accordance with TMC policy and objectives. Appraises the results of overall ancillary operations regularly and systematically, reporting these results to the CEO and organizational committees, as appropriate. Guides hospital response to the community's need for quality ancillary health care services through outreach and community needs assessment initiatives. Fosters effective working relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers and other professional staff members including but not limited to those in key leadership positions
Through mentorship, support and development of others, guides efforts that drive collaboration among departments towards improvement of efficiencies, patient throughput/flow and capacity management through the facility. Focus on strategic growth for service lines.
Supports the implementation and utilization of process improvements resulting in supporting high reliability principles.
Assures a workplace which fosters staff growth, development, and retention.
Subscribes to and upholds established standards of behavior. Works collaboratively and supports the efforts of other team members within TMC and TMCH strategy. Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times, including patient information, proprietary information and personnel information. Ensures compliance with JCAHO, State and Federal regulatory requirements as appropriate.
Serves as hospital liaison for Ancillary Services to state and federal regulatory agencies including but not limited to CMS and/or the Arizona Department of Health Services.
EXPERIENCE
At least 10 years of multi-hospital ancillary service experience/leadership and/or 2 years of VP level experience.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
