This newly formed position reports to the Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer and the Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Southcoast Health.
The Vice President, Population Health (VPPH) will lead strategy development, monitoring, and maintenance for Southcoast Health System’s (SHS) performance in Population Health (PH).
With the creation of this role, SHS recognizes the critical importance of a strong PH infrastructure for future success.
- Lead a large team of employees and directly manage approximately 8-10 leaders.
- Envision, design, facilitate, monitor, and in certain specific functions, directs SHS’s successful performance in PH reward systems. PH is a ‘system-wide’ effort that combines advanced health financing methodologies (such as outcome or risk-based) and SHS’s wholistic response via wellness/maintenance/treatment capabilities.
- Approach SHS (and its clinical network) as an accountable care organization, with each SHS function comprising a component part of the PH continuum.
- Develop and manage a PH governance structure and have direct oversight of a portfolio of programs to ensure PH performance, including Care Management, Community Health & Wellness, Health Equity, Ambulatory Quality, Pharmacy Management, Medicare and Medicaid program management, the Southcoast Health Network (SHN) Clinically Integrated Network (CIN) and Informatics. Facilitation/collaboration will occur in those areas not housed in SHN, with key relationships in primary care, specialty service lines, and inpatient departments.
- Collaborate with key SHS staff and departments on all aspects of total cost of care and quality performance as it relates to corporate success in financing vehicles.
- Contracting and the lead physician assisting in PH activities will have a dotted line reporting structure to the VPPH.
- Serve on committees, collaborate with vendors whose services impact operations or Population Health management initiatives, and apply for grant funding with planning, implementation, documentation, report filings and financial requirements.
Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree in Health Care, Business Administration or other related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of assigned administrative services, management information systems, financial principles including the ability to prepare and interpret budgets and financial reports, development of business plans for services and capital equipment, and regulatory and reimbursement issues required.
- Critical thinking and a deep knowledge of health care related clinical concepts, benchmarking, and analytics are required.
- A strong working knowledge of clinical terms, workflows and operations.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of related experience and a minimum of 8 years of leadership experience in healthcare or a related field, or a combination of equivalent experience for a minimum of 12 years is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and strong presentation skills are required.
- Advanced mathematical and analysis skills are required.
