JOB PURPOSE: 


The VP, Sales will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth, expanding our customer base and strengthening our market presence in order to position us as a prominent leader in the growing solar market. This role will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy and will work with leaders across our organization to achieve our revenue goals. 


The VP, Sales will lead sales force effectiveness initiatives and focus on building a high performing sales function. This role is responsible for developing strategies to reach our annual targets, which may include but is not limited to quota setting/management, setting and tracking central sales KPIs, sales compensation design, sales process optimization, sales program implementation and training.  


Additionally, the VP, Sales is a member of our executive team so will be counted on for their skills and years of experience, in addition to being a culture champion and ensuring we have an engaged workforce, loyal customers, and efficient operations so we can scale all while preserving our culture.  


The VP, Sales reports directly to the CEO on their performance metrics. The role will oversee the work of our Centralized Sales, Business Development and Marketing teams.  


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • The total compensation range is $175k-$275k per year. Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, prior experience, and skill set.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Sales strategy development and execution 
  • New business development and customer relationship management 
  • Team management and development 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • This role requires up to 50% travel. 
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive date-driven, central sales strategy to achieve revenue targets and market share growth. 
  • Develop our sales team capabilities by fostering a culture of growth, excellence, collaboration and customer focus.  
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships and channels. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners and industry stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure effective product positioning, marketing and customer support. 
  • Develop and manage robust sales budgets, pipelines and forecasts. 
  • Monitor market trends and competitor products and activities, providing insights to inform strategic decision-making. 
  • Participate in key industry events and trade shows to raise brand awareness and generate leads. 
  • Analyze sales data and generate reports to track progress and identify areas of improvement. 
  • Review customer activity, anticipate consumer needs and improve customer satisfaction 
  • Travel extensively across the US to meet partners and customers.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and achieving significant business growth. 
  • Deep understanding of the US solar market, competitors' products/services and distribution channels. 
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills with a focus on coaching and development 
  • Demonstrated communication, presentation and negotiation skills. 
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Highly organized and self-directed. 
  • Able to build relationships at all levels of the organization. 
  • Excellent project management skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment. 
  • Demonstrated strong performance in analytical, innovative, and critical thinking, strategy and collaboration.  
  • Ability to quickly navigate any situation to reach desired goals. 
  • A shared passion for ‘Our Planet’ and the renewable energy sector is highly desired. 

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

Examples include:  

  • Demonstrated success leading sales strategy and initiatives; preferably in the renewable/solar industry. 
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the distribution industry with strong understanding of B2B Sales.  
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in management and sales leadership. 
  • Experience in scaling an organization and exceptional change management knowledge and use. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:   

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, use repetitive motion, type, and hear.   
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms.   
  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
