How you'll have an impact at Paula's Choice:

The Vice President of People & Cultureis a leader responsible for shaping and driving Paula's Choice's People & Culture initiatives globally. This pivotal role is responsible for strategic vision, culture development, and employee engagement for an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing workforce.

This role has dual accountability, at global and local level. As the global head over human resources (HR), you will be a strong voice on the leadership team, and collaborate closely to ensure alignment between people strategies and overall business goals. You will work closely with HR colleagues in other markets to drive a holistic strategy around accountability, performance management, continuous feedback, employee retention, and learning and development.

As the People & Culture leader for our North America business, you will oversee all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, benefits administration, and compliance. You will be delivering and strengthening talent programs to hire, onboard, train, and retain employees who will contribute to and enhance Paula's Choice's culture and success.

Ultimately, the VP of People & Culture is responsible for ensuring our people matters are led and managed with integrity and Paula's Choice continues to be a diverse and inclusive workforce.

As the Vice President of People & Culture, this is what you will work on:

HR Strategy & Execution

  • Align on the strategic priorities for HR that will lead to superior brand performance, considering the input and direction from the leadership team as well as the needs of specific key markets.
  • Support markets in prioritizing their HR initiatives and ensure alignment between HR plans globally for consistency of culture and employee experience as well as maximum leverage of HR resources.
  • Ensure key initiatives are resourced and there are work plans to deliver them.
  • Identify and monitor critical KPIs that will ensure the strategy is being implemented and making the desired impact.

Employee Experience and Engagement

  • Shape and reinforce the company's culture, values, and norms.
  • Create programs that enhance employee experience, satisfaction, and productivity.
  • Foster a sense of inclusion and community within the organization. Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in line with the reality of each market.
  • Orchestrate the employee engagement survey process across markets, align on engagement plans globally and drive the implementation in North America.
  • Ensure onboarding programs are robust globally.
  • Manage the onboarding and integration of any new employees in North America.
  • Office Design & Management for the new Seattle office. Help in office reorganization and design, maximizing in-office culture, and connectivity. Make the Seattle office a vibrant and desired destination.

Recruiting Strategy

  • Formulate recruitment strategies to ensure continuous supply of high-caliber talent to deliver on business and culture goals.
  • Global talent pipeline and succession planning.
  • Raise Paula's Choice's profile as a well-recognized employer in the market and a desired destination for talent in Seattle and elsewhere.
  • Directly lead recruitment efforts for the North America business.

Learning & Development

  • Design and deliver the learning tools needed to support Paula's Choice agile culture and ways of working.
  • Design a learning agenda and deliver training programs across functions.
  • Partner with senior leaders to identify leadership development needs.
  • Partner with HR teams in different business units to identify key needs and priorities; and ensure smooth roll out of the prioritized learning initiatives.
  • Mentor and coach managers in North America to build effective leadership skills.

Performance Culture

  • Design the processes for goal setting and performance management that will enable a global culture of high achievement; open feedback and development focus.
  • Ensure reward processes are in place to ensure competitiveness, fairness and recognition of high performance.
  • Lead goal setting, performance management and reward processes in North America.

Organizational Development

  • Leverage modern and traditional approaches, lead and guide organization design activities to set the organization up effectively for future success.
  • Devise a roadmap and strategy for each team linked to our growth ambition.
  • Ensure there are robust succession plans in place for key management roles.

Accelerate International Markets

  • Continuously evolve the HR support structure to support the scaling of the business.
  • Roll out of HR polices and controls around compliance.
  • Synchronization of HR policies across markets.
  • Continuous monitoring of competitiveness of terms and packages we offer.
  • Creating ties with key recruitment/sourcing houses across the markets.

Budget Management and HR Analytics

  • Robust analytics on FTEs. Benchmarking with other Unilever Prestige and Health & Wellbeing brands.
  • Oversight on all people related costs including bonuses and other incentives.
  • Ensure our people cost structure is aligned to Unilever Prestige standards and Paula's Choice policies to be fair and equitable.
  • Oversight of HR functional budget and learning & development budget.

Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with HR laws and regulations highlighting and elevating key risks to the business and opportunities for improvement as well as deliver on education and compliance in relation to Unilever's Business Integrity initiatives.

Interface with Unilever Prestige

  • Be the point of contact to represent Paula's Choice needs and priorities from the portfolio.
  • Participate in the work designed by the parent company to ensure Paula's Choice point of view is heard.
  • Work with Portfolio Global Head of HR to ensure alignment to minimum standards and required policies and practices.
  • Provide data and reports as required.

The Details:

  • Location: Seattle, WA (Must be located in Seattle or willing to relocate)
  • On-Site requirement: 3 days per week minimum.
  • Hours: Typical business hours
  • Physical requirements: Ability to handle both sitting and screen time for long periods of time
  • Travel requirements: 15-20%, including international travel

What you'll bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 15 +years experience of demonstrated and proven success in human resources management building high-performing cultures in roles with increasing responsibility and scope.
  • Extensive experience leading, developing and inspiring teams during times of high change.
  • Significant experience providing strategic counsel at the most senior levels within an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategies during periods of significant change and transformation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees as well as corporate and external partners.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Paula's Choice Skincare determines the pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data. We evaluate external and internal equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. Our posted salary range is based on national data and may be refined for a candidate's region/town/cost of living.

For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. The exact base salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget. This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan.
