Position Overview:
Aerovate is seeking a strategic and experienced leader to fill the role of Vice President of Market Access. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, the VP of Market Access will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to optimize Market Access, payer relationships, pricing, reimbursement, and patient support solutions for Aerovate's novel cardiopulmonary disease therapies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in multiple commercial functions including managed markets, Market Access, and marketing within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry. They will also have demonstrated strong leadership skills related to building and developing teams and collaborating with cross functional partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Launch Planning / Market Access Strategy: Develop and implement end to end Market Access strategies, pricing models, and reimbursement initiatives aligned to the overall commercial strategy to maximize Market Access and patient affordability for Aerovate's products. Collaborate with the cross functional launch team to align Market Access strategies and initiatives with manufacturing and CMC initiatives as well as Marketing and Marketing Operations planning.
  • Payer Negotiations: Lead negotiations with payers, managed care organizations, government agencies, and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to secure favorable coverage, formulary placement, and reimbursement terms for Aerovate's therapies. Build and maintain relationships with key payer stakeholders to support Market Access objectives.
  • Pricing and Contracting: Develop pricing strategies, contracting models, and value-based agreements to optimize product pricing, market competitiveness, and revenue generation. Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and pricing dynamics to inform pricing decisions and Market Access strategies.
  • Patient Support Initiatives: Develop comprehensive high touch patient support initiatives to ensure patients have the support and resources needed to quickly obtain coverage, reimbursement and appropriate financial support need to start and remain on therapy.
  • Reimbursement Support: Provide guidance and support to sales, marketing, and Market Access teams on reimbursement policies, coding, coverage criteria, and reimbursement processes. Develop training programs and resources to educate internal stakeholders on payer landscape and reimbursement strategies.
  • Payer Analytics and Insights: Utilize data analytics tools and market research to gather insights on payer behaviors, coverage policies, reimbursement trends, and Market Access barriers. Translate data-driven insights into actionable recommendations for optimizing Market Access and payer strategies.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, medical affairs, commercial operations, and finance, to support our overall business objectives. Foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork across the organization.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all Market Access and payer-related activities comply with regulatory requirements, healthcare compliance guidelines, and industry standards. Collaborate with legal, regulatory, and compliance teams to mitigate risks and maintain ethical business practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, life sciences, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in commercial roles including managed markets, Market Access, payer negotiations, patient support services, marketing and other commercial operations experiences within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement systems, payer dynamics, formulary management, and pricing strategies.
  • Demonstrated success in securing favorable coverage, formulary placement, and reimbursement for pharmaceutical products.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and develop a strong team who are like minded in our pursuit to serve patients, build a successful brand, and collaborate with the cross functional team.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-driven approach and ability to lead crossfunctional teams.
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance regulations, Market Access trends, and health policy landscape.
