The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) has an exciting opportunity for a skilled and agile leader to join us as the Capitol Complex Maintenance Public Service Supervisor!

About Us: At DAS, we're dedicated to maintaining the Capitol Complex and Iowa Laboratories Facility at the highest standards. As the Maintenance Public Service Supervisor, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring the smooth operation of mail services, custodial services, buildings and grounds maintenance, special projects, and plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of dedicated professionals in various maintenance areas within the Capitol Complex Maintenance Bureau (CCM).
  • Provide hands-on supervision and guidance to ensure the efficient operation of mechanical, electrical, buildings, grounds, mail, and custodial services.
  • Collaborate with the Facility Administrator to manage heating, ventilation, air conditioning, energy management, grounds maintenance, and more.
  • Actively participate in the Supervisory Team, fostering collaboration and communication across all business units.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure seamless operations.
  • Serve as a liaison between facilities and occupants, addressing requests for services, repairs, and maintenance promptly and effectively.
  • Manage small to medium-sized projects from planning to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Assist in day-to-day administrative operations, including paperwork, data analytics, and communications.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Extensive leadership experience in public administration, construction/project management, contract/vendor management, or maintenance operations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to quality service and customer satisfaction.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
1) Graduation from high school (or GED equivalent) and experience equal to four years of full-time work experience in general office administrative support; specialized technical program support; or program administration, development, management, or operations.

2) All of the following (a, b, and c):
a. Graduation from high school (or GED equivalent); and
b. One year of full-time work experience in general office administrative support; technical program support; or program administration, development, management, or operations; and
c. A total of three years of education and full-time experience (as described in part b), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience. Graduation from the Iowa Certified Public Manager Program is also equivalent to one year of full-time experience or education.
