TARGAN Inc. is searching for an experienced, highly technical, Vice President of Manufacturing who is commercial, logistical, and a very ‘hands-on’ leader. The role will be responsible for TARGAN’s overall manufacturing strategies and day-to-day management and leadership of all manufacturing operations, including overseeing product engineering and manufacturing processes to ensure on-time delivery of our products, quality, and controlling costs. This position will be responsible for total manufacturing performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost, developing and implementing operational policies, standards, and procedures for new and existing manufacturing methods at TARGAN HQ and 3rd Party Manufacturers. This position will also be responsible for TARGAN’s future manufacturing operations, including internationally. This position will engage, lead, train, and mentor others within the overall manufacturing operations to best practices that will drive improvements in our business. The position requires a leader capable of facilitating and driving change in a fast-paced environment, knowledge and understanding of LEAN manufacturing principles, the fundamentals of product, processes, manufacturing engineering, and quality assurance related to best-in-class capital equipment manufacturing.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive global manufacturing vision and strategy internally and with 3rd party contract manufacturing in the U.S. and internationally.
  • Day-to-day management and execution of TARGAN manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure the required level of engineering service is provided in all areas of the manufacturing operation to support all current and new products.
  • Enable strategic vision through the development of process designs and requirements needed to ensure success for operations and customer support.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team to generate and implement cost-reduction activities and improved manufacturing performance.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing-wide LEAN manufacturing practices.
  • Develop, approve, and present operational key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Improve product quality using established Quality Control and Assurance methodologies.
  • Oversee maintenance of all process-related machinery and equipment by establishing, enforcing, and monitoring a robust PM process.
  • Lead manufacturing engineering change orders, instructions, quality standards, training, and developing plans to conduct any associated activities coming from such changes.
  • Review, approve, and coordinate new launch information and activities as provided by the commercial design group. Ensure that new launches are introduced as “production friendly” as possible. Provide direction for BOMs, routings, and work cell designations, upon new products and during day-to-day manufacturing activities.
  • Analyze processes for sub-optimal performance, collect data, communicate findings, and effectively make recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee capacity planning and facility layout in support of day-to-day production and alignment with continued business growth.
  • Lead department managers to develop and track performance metrics and take corrective action on root causes as required.
  • Review product designs and make recommendations to ensure product costs and manufacturing targets are achieved. In addition, the position is responsible for determining methods, processes, equipment, and technologies that enable TARGAN to cost-effectively manufacture products.
  • Implementation and monitoring of Manufacturing Quality Assurance processes.
  • Determine appropriate staffing requirements consistent with the department workload and Company Budget.
  • Partner with Finance and HR departments in workforce planning to meet Company goals and budget.
  • Responsible for directing the selection and training of personnel and overseeing performance management for subordinates.
  • This position, together with the supply chain, will develop and manage production schedules, capacity parameters, and labor adjustments to align with order demands.
  • This position, together with supply chain and commercial engineering, is responsible for developing and working with NA & global suppliers to ensure that required quality levels are achieved.
  • Develop and maintain a highly motivated and enthusiastic workforce by partnering with the HR department in the development and implementation of programs that will attract, retain, and motivate employees.
  • Author request for proposals (RFP) for new scope of work related to manufacturing as well as support contractual agreements such as MSA and SOWs.
  • Support new product launch activities such as ensuring process validation is acceptable according to industry standards.
  • Support external quality events such as deviations and investigations by providing technical expertise and process impact evaluations as needed in partnership with Quality.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to the departmental budget.
  • On an as-needed basis, assist the quality assurance team with audits and inspections.
Requirements:

Education:

  • BS or MS in Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or Operations
  • 20+ years of relevant industry experience inclusive of contract manufacturing experience with multi-plant network responsibility. with 10 or more in a senior management role.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in manufacturing and process improvement/optimizations.

Qualifications:

  • Strong business acumen to drive 3rd Party Manufacturing contracts with the help of the executive team and General Counsel, and ability to effectively manage communications and expectations with all.
  • Strong Leadership & problem-solving skills with innovative solutions and creativity in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience with evaluating and improving performance and effectively managing contract manufacturer relationships to drive performance in support of company objectives.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, collaboration, project management, and communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels both internally, externally, and globally.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, organize, plan, manage, and prioritize multiple deliverables.
  • Excellent Lean Manufacturing and Quality Assurance Methodologies Knowledge.
  • Product/manufacturing engineering experience preferred.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40%.
  • Production/Manufacturing environment
  • Lift more than 25 pounds.
