PURPOSE
The Vice President ofLogistics Sales & Business Development is responsible for generating new customers, building customer relationships, and expanding business with existing customers. This individual will act as a business consultant to establish credibility with prospects through an understanding of the customer's business issues and developing logical economic solutions that benefit both the carrier and shipper.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Receive direction from the Senior Vice President of Logistics Solutions to ensure alignment with Business Development strategies in forecasting, business planning, and pipeline development.
  • Expand the network to improve density and maximize revenue and profit by selling differentiated value in alignment with regional operational strategies.
  • Generate new business opportunities via direct sales through prospecting and managing the lead origination process.
  • Manage customer relationships including interactions through customer calls and meetings resulting in new business wins.
  • Manage top-line revenue growth for the respective team in all service offerings.
  • Oversee weekly sales activity and pipeline reporting; forecasting and management reporting.
  • Support the sales team in building strong customer relationships with existing customers, with a high focus on adding new customer relationships with tier 1,2, & 3 size customers.
  • Establish broad and deep relationships with strategic customer roles with decision making authority or influence in their organization.
  • Share our vision and our mission statement with our customers.
  • Work closely with key Operations, Customer Service, Marketing, Pricing, Legal, and Finance team members throughout the company to proactively identify value-creation opportunities for Ascend and our customers.
  • Promote a customer-centric culture throughout the organization.
  • Partner with customers, internal customer service, and regional leadership to solve problems as they may occur.
  • Model and promote Ascends Values.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or combination of education and experience.
  • Prior National Account Management.
  • 5 - 10 years of proven ability in high-level transportation sales, including Brokerage, asset-based truckload, Flatbed, Refrigerated, and value-added sales such as dedicated, and distribution.
  • Experience securing and working with Fortune 100 companies.
  • Astute negotiation skills and ability to build strong business relationships with all levels, including C-level executives.
  • Strong verbal, written skills, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to continuously improve results.
  • Ability to promote a culture of trust and safety.
