First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking an experienced and analytical Vice President & Legal Counsel to join our Legal & Corporate Services Group. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing a broad range of corporate legal matters, providing strategic and timely legal advice to the General Counsel and other senior managers. Responsible for negotiation of third-party services agreements, licenses and other related contracts in connection with the acquisition of technology-related products, contract management, providing legal guidance and assistance in vendor risk management of technology service providers, advising business units on legal and compliance risks associated with outsourcing certain operational banking functions to a third party or by using third-party products and services, corporate transactions including, commercial lending, legal and regulatory compliance and investigations, corporate governance, securities law matters, and employment and related litigation matters.
The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM (hours may vary)
The ideal candidate will have:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school required.
- 5 years of experience as an attorney, including contract review, negotiation and management required.
- Must be licensed to practice law in Hawaii.
- Technology industry and/or financial institution experience preferred.
- Able to plan, organize and budget.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to handle confidential matters judiciously.
- Able to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve problems quickly.
- Possesses attention to detail with excellent follow-through.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines to completion in a timely manner with quality results.
- Excellent time management and legal project management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
