Your Mission:
The Vice President of HR is an executive level position responsible for overseeing and managing aspects of the Human Resources department's operations. This individual is responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, and strategies that align with the company's and departments overall strategies and goals. They will provide leadership and guidance to a team of HR professionals to ensure that all functions of the department they are responsible for are carried out effectively and efficiently. The Vice President of HR will provide coaching, counsel and partnership to business leaders ensuring consistency in business practices.

How You’ll Make an Impact:
  • Key leadership role in identifying, developing, and implementing HR strategies, programs, policies, and processes that align with the company’s strategic goals and objectives and improve the Ilitch group of food companies.
  • Managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department areas assigned. Lead and manage a team of HR professionals, providing guidance and direction to ensure that all team members are working effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local legal and regulatory requirements related to employment practices, including equal employment opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, and fair labor standards. Remain current with changes in HR and employment laws and analyze changes to determine possible impact and recommendations for mitigation.
  • Developing and implementing programs and initiatives aimed at promoting a high-performance culture, employee engagement, retention, and satisfaction.
  • Involved in assessing and implementing compensation requests, plans and programs (including bonus programs and target incentives).
  • Assisting in creating, developing, and implementing succession and leadership development plans and programs to ensure bench strength for critical positions.
  • Work with appropriate HR team members to ensure positive employee relations. Investigate and respond to employee relation issues as appropriate, including EEOC, DOL, OSHA and other formal complaints that are received.
  • Oversee performance management program for assigned areas and ensure it meets company goals and needs. Provide coaching to department heads on handling performance, conflict and related issues.
  • Assisting in developing and managing budgets for HR and ensuring that resources are allocated effectively.

  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

Who You Are:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business administration or related field is required. SHRM-SCP or SPHR certified is desirable and MS/MBA in related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience working in progressively responsible HR roles, including at least 8 years in an HR leadership capacity.
  • Evidence of direct experience partnering with senior leaders and executives to identify needs, define strategy, develop action plans, define deliverables, present results, measure outcomes and provide recommendations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws and regulations. Previous experience in manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
  • Leverages data and insights to assess and drive action to elevate the colleague and guest experience. Demonstrates expertise in developing labor relations strategies and plans in close collaboration with organizational leadership.
  • Evidence of well-developed ability to analyze issues and problems, recommend and implement solutions, and follow-up.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other executives, leaders, and colleagues.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills with a strong professional presence.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop, coach, and lead a team of HR professionals.
  • Previous experience with research, including data analysis, and preparing presentations on findings and with recommendations.
  • Experience handling confidential and proprietary information with the appropriate level of discretion.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft 365 products.
  • Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Where You’ll Work:
  • Works in a normal office environment and in a manufacturing setting as needed.
  • Ability to travel as needed and adhere to the LCE Travel Policy.
