Greco Family Office is an entrepreneurial, dynamic family investment office based in Bartlett IL. Founded in 2002, the firm invests opportunistically in several asset classes, including real estate, private equity, operating companies primarily focused on the food and beverage space, finance, capital markets, among other limited investments. Its portfolio includes Cheese Merchants of America one of the nation’s largest hard-cheese processors. The Greco Family Office is a fourth-generation multi-family office that houses the investments for roughly 9 families and approximately 40 family members. The Greco family is extremely tight knit and very hard working. The office instills and upholds the core tenets of family, work ethic, fiscal responsibility, entrepreneurship, teamwork, and humility. The primary goal of the office is to strengthen the bonds connecting the extended Greco family while continuing to compound returns and expand the family’s portfolio.

The family office also serves the tax, financial, fiduciary, and administrative interests of the family and their related entities, including trusts and various corporate entities.

The Position:

The Vice President of Finance position reports directly to Pat Greco, President and the Greco Family. This individual leads our accounting staff to deliver reporting, accounting, and planning to the investment team and family. The individual must be a hands-on manager with demonstrated experience building and leading a team. This person will be a liaison and closely manage key vendor relationships including accounting, banking, tax, legal, and others.

Skills/Experience:

• BA/BS degree required. MBA a plus, CPA required. Family office experience is a plus.
• Experience with a family business preferred
• Public accounting experience required, minimum 5 years of experience
• Experience with general ledger and financial reporting required
• Overseeing a small office staff of under 5
• Merger and acquisition experience preferred
• Investment accounting experience, including exposure to real estate and private equity funds preferred
• Experience with partnership accounting and trust entities preferred
• Solid knowledge of taxation a plus
• Ability to create detailed cash flow models and pro forma financial budgets
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Outstanding Microsoft Excel skills
• Financial M&A due diligence skills preferred
• Experience with Addepar reporting system a plus

Responsibilities:

• General accounting and overseeing all accounting, bill-pay, bookkeeping and financial reporting functions, including month-end, quarter-end and annual close for management company, investment entities, trusts and family members.
• Ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide Financial analysis
• Maintain internal controls and safeguards to ensure the integrity of financial data.

Merger and Acquisition, Investment, Treasury and Other:

• Act as liaison and closely manage key vendor relationships including bank, real estate, tax, legal, and estate planning.
• Assist with merger and acquisition activities including working with investment bankers, accounting firms, and the family on due diligence and deal evaluation in conjunction with the family’s financial professionals in the cheese operating company portfolio
• Work with in-house financial advisor and family and process funding for investments
• Manage Line of Credit and day to day banking relationships.
• Monitor family gifting programs and assist family with philanthropic activities

Income Tax:

• Facilitate tax services for family office entities and family members including the following:
• Facilitate/Review the preparation of state and federal income tax returns in conjunction with our outside accountants
• Prepare more basic income tax returns, more complex ones prepared by outside accounting firm
• Facilitate/Review quarterly estimates and year-end tax planning for all entities in conjunction with our outside accountants.
• Proactively coordinate annual and long-term tax strategies for all individuals and entities.
• Function as liaison with outside tax advisors and accounting firm.
• Review all year-end tax filings such as W-2s, K-1’s, 1099s and payroll tax filings for all employees & vendors.

Key Initiatives

• Develop a quarterly and annual reporting system for all family members
• Establish a good and effective relationship with family members and financial institutions.
• Assist with private equity portfolio monitoring, pro forma modeling, and potential restructuring
