Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer and serving on Marketing Leadership Team, the VP, Digital will be responsible for strategic thought leadership leading to significant top and bottom-line business growth where the digital experience is brand-accretive—to articulate the digital strategy for the enterprise’s current and future lines of business that’s integrated to overall Marketing strategy and ladders up to corporate strategy including brand position, mission, vision, values, and to efficiently and effectively drive execution of that plan via the Digital team, the larger Marketing organization, other key partner functions (Ops, Call center, IT, Finance, Business Development), and outside agencies and vendors. Our goal is to transform the company from an affinity-based, DM-led strategy to an omnichannel strategy that is in many cases digitally led. The role encompasses both customer acquisition/monetization as well as the entirety of the digital experience for prospects, customers, contractor partners and utility partners.
This position is responsible for the budget/plan development, KPI measurement criteria, and achievement of digitally-driven operating and financial goals relating to new customer acquisition, cross-sell, retention, LTV, and LTV/CAC targets—including paid/earned/owned media programs, and overall yield management/customer experience on our digital properties. This position is responsible for leadership of the internal digital team and any digital agencies/vendors.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Strategy, budgeting, planning: Define HOS’s digital strategy including developing digital go-to-market strategy. Set annual Marketing plan and develop budget to achieve the goals set in the Marketing plan.
  • Digital presence/websites: Lead desktop and mobile website strategy to ensure that inbound traffic and activity is efficiently converted, and that yield is maximized in a brand-accretive way; includes user experience, content, design and digital functionality. Understand user needs, evolving market trends, technology innovations, and competitive offerings to improve the user experience for prospects and current/former customers.
  • Media: Drive annual Learning Agenda and measurement plan prioritizing tests/trials that will impact positive business growth. Grow the media spend and efficiency as well as traffic derived from earned and owned channels to contribute to the overall LTV/CAC goals of the Marketing department. Implement testing methodologies to enhance the demand capture process from offline-generated and digitally generated demand including conversion rates, and Average Order value/LTV. Manage external agencies and collaborate with internal partners to create digital marketing plans that resonate with the target audience.
  • Product: partner with product function to create products that are competitive in the digital marketplace, provide feedback
  • Call Center: partner with the call center on omnichannel customer conversion, saves, and call deflection. Build out self-service tools to allow digitally-centered customers to accomplish their tasks online at any point in the journey—e.g. file claims, change payment methods, add services, etc. Review on a monthly basis customer cancellation disposition to gain feedback on how to improve the digital experience and improve retention.
  • Analytics: Develop digital KPIs and report on all outcome and driver KPIs. Generate insights and discover opportunities to improve the overall economics and scale of our digital programs. Collect and analyze digital campaign results, reporting and sharing insights with Marketing and Executive leadership.
  • Works with all third parties and CTO to ensure that all systems and integrations remain up and running and performant.

Experience and Qualifications of the Role
  • 10+ years’ experience leading teams that are building and implementing digital marketing strategy and campaigns including integrated digital marketing, web, email, paid media and social, as well as developing the maturation of desktop/mobile websites (UX/UI, CRO)
  • 6 + years of direct people management experience with a track record of consistently recognizing and rewarding excellent performance and addressing performance issues head-on, without delay.
  • Demonstrated success driving significant growth of a digital business’ scale and efficiency, preferably one attached to a larger offline media (e.g. DM) business.
  • Demonstrated initiative, critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Track record of creating and executing digital strategies and programs that deliver measurable business objectives for sales, revenue, market share and profitability including new customer acquisition, retention, and growth strategies.
  • Proven ability to craft comprehensive reports, offering clear and understandable insights into our digital marketing strategies for executive stakeholders.
Computer Skills Needed to Perform this Job
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites
  • Experience with SQL, Java, HTML, CSS strongly preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree preferably in digital, e-commerce, marketing, or business
