Summary
As the Vice President of Data Analytics and Reporting at Spartan Education Group, you will be responsible for reviewing, researching, analyzing, monitoring, and manipulating school and business-related data within various database systems. You will be tasked with implementing information delivery improvements, ensuring the accuracy of data, and creating various daily, weekly, and quarterly reports and dashboards, including support ticketing processes. In this role, you will work under general supervision and will need to demonstrate expert proficiency in the design, development, and implementation of data, reporting, and database technologies and tools. You will consult with businesses to resolve complex data issues and champion efforts to extend existing data architecture to ensure new and existing user demands and application requirements are met on an ongoing basis. Additionally, you will work with Anthology (Student Information System) and PerformLine (Admissions Listening Software) to extract, transform and load data to create insights and inform business decisions.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrate expert proficiency in the design, development, and implementation of data, reporting, and database technologies and tools.
- Consult with businesses to resolve complex data issues.
- Champion efforts to extend existing data architecture to ensure new and existing user demands and application requirements are met on an ongoing basis.
- Advise database design/code through an in-depth understanding of business needs/functionalities and provide expertise in devising, negotiating, and defending database schema and data models.
- Consult with database administration and client areas and provide solutions in resolving complex issues during the translation to a physical database design.
- Provide knowledge and expertise of enterprise data to assist Spartan functional groups in the creation and definition of internal and external dashboards, reports, and KPIs.
- Provide direction and guidance on reports and visualizations and ensure recommendations are aligned with user needs and capabilities.
- Use expertise to evaluate market trends and provide input into the selection of tools and any necessary changes to the company's data management, reporting, and visualization environment.
- Serve as a mentor to other data analysts within IT and throughout the organization.
- Accomplish engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Knowledge / Skills:
- Experience in consultative requirements elicitation, design and building of data management, reporting, and visualization solutions.
- Motivated and able to quickly learn new technologies and tools.
- Experience scripting in TSQL and other database technologies.
- Experience in SSRS or equivalent technologies.
- Experience with PowerBI, Tableau, or equivalent technologies (Power BI development/design experience is a plus).
- Ability to develop design and solution specifications.
- Demonstrated record of pursuing and applying new advancements in information technology to solving business problems related to data management, reporting, and data visualization.
- Must be a self-starter with effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must also be customer-service oriented and an experienced problem solver who seeks assistance when necessary.
- Ability to work with various 3rd-party products (i.e., Anthology, PerformLine, Talon, Flight Schedule Pro, etc.) to extract data (including API library knowledge), transform, and load data to create insights and inform business decisions
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment on projects and troubleshooting
Education and Work Experience
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, data science, or equivalent discipline
- Fifteen (15) years in data and analytics in a cross-functional organization
- Five (5) years report and analysis development experience.
- Experience migrating a data platform from on-prem to cloud
- Experience with dev ops and agile methodologies
