Veterinary Assistant

Our goal:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our animal patients and supporting our veterinary staff. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and want to make a difference in the lives of pets and their owners. This position is for someone who has hand's on experience working in an animal facility, performing the skills listed.

```Duties```
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Perform basic animal care duties, including feeding, monitoring, bathing, and restraining.
- Handle dogs and cats safely and confidently, ensuring their comfort and well-being
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the veterinary clinic, including exam rooms, kennels, and surgical areas
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Collect samples for laboratory testing and perform basic laboratory procedures
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Assist with animal restraint during procedures or examinations
- Monitor animals' vital signs and report any abnormalities to the veterinary staff
- Provide client communication and support

```Skills```
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Knowledge of basic pet grooming techniques
- Familiarity with aseptic technique in a veterinary setting
- Proficiency in dog/cat handling techniques
- Strong understanding of animal care principles and practices
- Experience in previous veterinary hospital needed
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures
- Ability to safely restrain animals for various procedures
- Familiarity with animal catheterization procedures is a plus
- Ability to take direction from the doctor and deliver the results requested
