Veterinary Assistant

River Valley Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team! This is a great opportunity for experienced individuals who are committed to careers in veterinary medicine.

This is a full-time position and will require regular Saturday coverage.

We’re looking for:

• Veterinary background with 1-3 years of current, relevant experience
• Team player with a “go-getter” mentality
• Prior experience with small animals (large animal a plus!)
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment with minimal error
• Desire to uphold and build relationships with the local community
• Willingness to jump in where needed (answering phones, kennels, cleaning, etc.)
• Working knowledge of IDEXX Neo is a plus, but not required

Primary skills and responsibilities:

• Taking patient histories
• Assisting in exams
• Anesthesia monitoring
• Injection and medication administration
• Gentle patient restraint
• Pharmacy duties
• Blood draws
• IVC placement
• Outpatient procedures
• General hospital cleaning
• Client service and communication
• Assisting the front desk as needed

Full-time benefits:

• Compensation: $16.00 to $19.00/hour (based on experience)
