Community Financial Credit Union HQ is located in Plymouth, MI. We have 14 branches in the Metro Detroit Area well as Northern Michigan.

Job description:

The Vendor Management Specialist manages all vendor relationships and contracts for Community Financial Credit Union. This position will support department contract activities, lead complex contract negotiations and will collaborate with various lines of business, ensuring that all terms and pricing agreements made in the negotiation process are built into the contract and conform to CFCU’s strategy.

Compensation for this position has a starting amount of $54,300 annually but has the opportunity to increase with relevant work experience and transferrable skills.


A Day in the life of a Vendor Management Specialist can look like:

  • Work closely with internal departments to verify that vendor contracts are structured with the appropriate risk provisions and mechanisms.
  • Ensure vendors performance meet the credit union’s business objectives within the agreed costs and schedules.
  • Manage vendor relationships in order to maximize savings for CFCU while minimizing contractual risks.
  • Develop negotiation strategy and lead negotiation of complex vendor contracts.
  • Maintain and continually develop the Vendor Management policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with the eTeam, project management, compliance, and finance teams to optimize negotiations.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of contract management guidelines related to vendor contracts while customizing legal contract verbiage within those guidelines to address specific business needs.
  • Work with the eTeam in relation to contract terms and conditions, ensuring provisions meet CFCU’s objectives.
  • Provide authoritative guidance to internal teams on CFCU goals and objectives relating to contract activity.
  • Act as the primary liaison in the areas of contract negotiation between vendors, internal and external legal staff, and internal departments.
  • Provide vendor contract review services and coordinate contract dispositions.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend contract management process improvements including vendor/contract management applications.
  • Continually analyze and evaluate each program or vendor for improvement opportunities and work with appropriate parties towards implementation.
  • Perform other duties as directed by leadership.

What you bring to the table:

  • High school diploma and/or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of administrative experience.
  • Legal aptitude and understanding of relationships between contract provisions
  • Strong negotiating, interpersonal and analytical skills, professional attitude, and ability to interact with senior management across our industry
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to create fact-based recommendations in order to positively influence and achieve desired contractual results
  • Excellent relationship management skills to work successfully across the credit union and to quickly gain the trust and confidence
  • Use of independent judgment and creativity applied to the resolution of contract issues
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain contractual provisions in easy-to-understand business terms
  • Excellent organization, time and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Timely work production.

You might also have:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field and/or equivalent education and related training.
  • 3 years of experience in contract management or closely related field.
