SUMMARY

This leadership position will ensure integration of all Shop Technologies that affect Vehicle Diagnostics, including the availability of all maintenance-related correspondence and repair manuals. Responsibilities will include the oversight of all SBT’s within the organization and other diagnostic tools used to perform maintenance on Ryder vehicles.

Salary is determined based on internal equity; internal salary ranges; market data/ranges; applicant’s skills; prior relevant experience; certain degrees or certifications, etc.
The salary for this position ranges from $65,000 to $80,000.

Location: Ryder shop or remote
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Travel: 10% or less

EDUCATION

H.S. diploma/GED
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Five (5) years or more experience in vehicle maintenance or related experience
Broad base of experience in all phases of vehicle maintenance
Two (2) years or more experience in maintenance management

KNOWLEDGE

Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems; intermediate level.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ensure diagnostic tool software contains applications to meet needs of the Ryder fleet
Communicate regularly with Purchasing group regarding new vehicle purchases to determine Vehicle Diagnostic needs.
Communicate regularly with HQ Technical Assistance Center to identify issues and requirements
Study industry trends to stay abreast of latest technology advances that require changes to Ryder’s diagnostic tooling strategy
Represent Ryder in various industry organizations relating to Vehicle Diagnostics, such as TMC and Vendor Technology Forums
Monitor field needs and ensure relevant diagnostic procedures are available
Develop and test new diagnostic tooling and procedures
Identify Vehicle Diagnostic needs where existing tool falls short. Work with Ryder’s third party software integrator and vendors to resolve
Communicate weekly with Ryder’s third party software integrator and tool developer to:
Ensure help desk support is in place and providing acceptable service level
Review Helpdesk logs to identify product failure or service deficiency trends
Ensure new application development is on schedule
Provide direction/assistance on problem correction
Develop maintenance Company policy as it relates to Vehicle Diagnostics
Develop and maintain a process to ensure diagnostic tool has capability to access the infoCenter and approved Internet sites.
Develop and maintain a monthly-based process to ensure that current Ryder and Vendor service procedures are available on the infoCenter, and/or DVD where necessary
Ensure the diagnostic tool platform supports the presentation of all maintenance publications in electronic format
Develop and maintain reliable diagnostic tool update process
Utilize on-line capabilities where available for updates. DVD media will serve as alternative update method, when on-line capabilities are inadequate
Monitor Ryder’s third party software integrator and tool developer to ensure updates are on schedule.
Collaborate with Ryder’s purchasing group and vendors to obtain software licensing agreements at the lowest possible direct cost to the field locations
Maintain Vehicle Diagnostics section of Service Level Agreements to stipulate Ryder’s diagnostic tooling and software needs
Provide content to Maintenance Publications team for regular communications to Field and HQ on status, and changes, to Vehicle Diagnostics software and tooling
Communicate weekly with HQ Technical Assistance Center to identify and discuss new diagnostic issues and requirements
Provide bi-weekly status updates to Advanced Vehicle Diagnostics Program Manager
Work with Training Group staff to identify training needs, and develop internal and external training programs.
Co-manage vendor Vehicle Diagnostic training programs
