Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
As a member of GM's Human Resources Group, supporting our Global Design Organization, you will lead assigned business functions in day-to-day HR activities and provide direction and leadership that aligns and supports our objectives, mission and culture. You will work strategically with Design Operations and Advanced Design business leaders to improve working relationships, build engagement, increase output, attract and retain talent, including collaborating with COEs relative to strategic workforce planning.
This position works across a truly dynamic workforce, including both hourly and salaried employees, represented and non-represented, and highly cross functional talent (clay and digital sculpting, fabrication, creative designers, program management and operations). Based on the nature of this creative work, Global Design employees work primarily onsite, which drives a great deal of in-person relationship building and activity.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with your director team, executives and business leaders to define a talent identification and management strategy and approach for the assigned business function.
- Understand legal requirements at execution level related to management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Strategically work with Global Design's executive management and HR leadership team, to improve working relationships, build engagement, increase output, attract and retain talent.
- Collaborate with Design Operations and Advanced Design senior leaders, provide direction on business function's restructures, specific transformation efforts, job design and workforce/organizational planning.
- Maintain a strong culture and work climate that attracts and motivates staff while driving the HR function's mission.
- Hold a strong financial and forecasting acumen.
- Develop a deep understanding of our brands, company, function, and products and incorporate into HR practices to support Global Design as appropriate.
Additional Description
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of HR experience
- Must be proficient in use of HR systems (Workday, Workforce360, Cognos)
- Excellent computer skills, including advanced use of Microsoft Office suite
- Acting with a sense of urgency
- Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and project management aptitude
- Strong interpersonal skills in facilitation, partnership and conflict resolution
- Managerial courage demonstrated through effective, direct, and respectful communication
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information is maintained
- Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and work to plan
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience previously supporting a union or manufacturing facility
Experience working with creative talent
