Position Summary

The Value Stream Supervisor is responsible for overseeing production activities, including scheduling, staffing, quality control, and safety measures, to meet or exceed production targets. The incumbent will work closely with the Value Stream Manager to establish standards and analyze production data for improvement opportunities. They will also assist in implementing and coordinating Teleflex Site Operating Playbook standard requirements while ensuring compliance with all corporate, local, and state policies and regulations.

The Value Stream Supervisor will lead and develop the team, implement company policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with regulations. They will also assign work, monitor performance, and provide training and development opportunities for employees.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Ensure all environmental, health, safety, and related process procedures are adhered to by self and all employees.
  • Ensure Company values of people, customer satisfaction and quality, integrity, and ethics, and social responsibility are the focus of the operations on his/her shift.
  • Supervise the production activities to achieve customer satisfaction and attainment of production schedules, lead, and delivery times.
  • Plan and lead production activities and established production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Set and communicate clear expectations for your employees every day and if possible/applicable, by the hour. These expectations include rate, quality, set-up time, performance to standard work, and documentation of production. Ensures coordination between shifts to achieve a smooth, efficient transition.
  • Maintain a presence on the shop floor and provide daily feedback (multiple times a day) on how employees are progressing toward meeting the established goals and celebrate/recognize individual and team successes.
  • When goals are missed, give feedback, investigate, determine the root cause, and any corrective action.
  • Be a Leader of Change by implementing continuous improvement to maintain 5S, eliminate waste, standardize work, reduce costs, and strive toward a lean operation.
  • Lead and implement business improvement processes to achieve or exceed budgeted operation results.
  • Verify self and all employees are following GMPs and are auditable at all times. Assures compliance with GMP (ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820, MDD 93/42EEC, and all applicable standards)
  • Lead discussion with line leaders and area employees to review production activity, operational issues, waste/scrap, and quality data to determine root cause, course of action to achieve goals, and potential process improvements.
  • Collaborate with pertinent departments and plant leadership to establish production, quality, and cost control standards, staffing schedules, and assist in budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Coordinate production activities with planning, purchasing, warehouse, maintenance, materials, engineering, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Provide data and analysis on production, quality control, maintenance, and operational issues to determine the root cause of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
  • Provide leadership and development of employees to continue raising expectations toward maintaining a high-performing work team.
  • Perform activities necessary for the effective management of the areas including provision for the selection, development, motivation, recognition, and counseling of employees; implementation of organizational goals and objectives; and planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed.
  • Maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Ensure tidiness at their workplace, is responsible for entrusted funds and company property, and follow principles of work safety.
  • Act in accordance with all relevant statutory requirements and/or other regulatory provisions, and other internal standards.

Education / Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role, preferably in a regulated manufacturing environment such as medical devices.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with QSR/ISO regulations and standards for medical device manufacturing.
  • Proven success in driving employee engagement programs and achieving team results.
  • Must have very good computer skills including SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven track record of being a change agent.
  • Ability to visually identify waste in a Value Stream.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

  • Must be able to exert up to 40 lbs. of force.
  • This position requires frequent reaching, material handling, keying, sitting, standing, and walking.
