Hours per Pay Period:  0.01 = Per Diem (Non-Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE

Transporting patients within our service region via ground ambulance to and from a variety of health care facilities. Responsiblefor assisting with patient care tasks in accordance with scope of practice andunder the direction or supervision of the RN and/or physician.

Essential Job Functions

 Performs patient care during air and ground medical transports within the defined scope of practice for specific education/certification level and as directed or supervised by the charge nurse and/or physician. Complies with applicable State of Montana rules and regulations, DEACARE protocols, policies and procedures.

 Ensures adequate inventory and cleanliness of equipment in flight packs. Informs appropriate personnel of equipment needing repair and initiates work requisitions.

 Participates in mandatory on-call rotations and actively participates in covering the staffing needs of the department.

Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality.

 Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.

 Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance.
Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

  DBC policy and procedures, both organizational and departmental

  Personal computers, hardware and software

  EMS dispatching

  Hospital and DEACARE protocols pertaining to the Flight Team

  Patient care and assessment principles within scope of license/certification

  ABILITY TO:

  Incorporate cultural diversity and age appropriate care into all aspects of communication and patient care; scope of services provided will encompass age groups from infant through geriatric

  Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbal and written

  Work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities

  React calmly and professionally during emergent or difficult situations

  Pay close attention to details

  Push, pull, lift and carry weights when transporting patients and supplies

  COMPLEXITY & DIFFICULTY:

  Errors in relaying information or discourteous interaction could result in embarrassment and/or loss of integrity, revenue and/or market position for DBC

  Scope of work encompasses communications with diverse groups of people ranging from public to other health care providers

  May encounter patients with a wide variety of needs requiring quick responses

Minimum Qualifications

Certifications and Licenses

  • Current Montana license/certification
  • BLS Certification required
  • Current Montana Drivers license and the ability to be insured to operate DBC vehicles
