Essential Job Duties:The primary purpose of the Professional Accountant is to provide assistance to the Dept of Molecular Biomedical Sciences Administration Team and assist with grant management (ledger 5). Includes processing vouchers, travel requests, temporary employment wages accounting, and refreshing internal budget sheets. The Professional Accountant will work with many types of funds which includes general funds (state appropriated and appropriated receipts), auxiliary and sales and services funds, and foundation and agency. Also provides business office staff coverage. Specifically,
1) Provide guidance to staff on University Travel guidelines/rules, travel authorizations, and regulations
2) Purchasing Cards, and reconciliation (Willing to train)
3) Update internal budget sheets with PeopleSoft Financial information
4) Investigate and resolve discrepancies between transactions and budgets
5) Assist with payroll
6) Process journal entries, small purchase vouchers, and coordinate data collection for large purchase order requisitions

1) 1 yr of accounting experience
2) Knowledge and experience using PeopleSoft Financials and HR systems, or similar systems/software.
3) Proficient knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets in an accounting/financial capacity.
4) Understanding of accounting rules and procedures including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
5) Effective time management and strong organizational skills
6) Ability to understand, analyze and interpret university spending guidelines related to various funding sources
7) Effective written and verbal communication skills
8) Ability to work independently
9) Analytical skills
10) Excellent customer service skills
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
-At least 1 year experience using PeopleSoft Financials and HR systems
