Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Utility Maintenance Mechanic and Field Services Manager, incumbent is responsible for assisting in the general maintenance and repair of wastewater collection system, wastewater lift stations, reclaim equipment, machinery, pipes, valves, check valves, force mains, gravity mains, etc. Responsibilities include assisting with the efficient and safe mechanical and electrical operation of machinery and equipment through-out our collection systems. Assist with the installation of new equipment, and basic repairs while maintaining equipment. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring screening for illegal substance and alcohol use. Work is reviewed by the Utility Senior Maintenance Mechanics and Plant Services Manager through observation and completed work orders for adherence to established policies and procedures.
Examples of Essential Functions
Operates mowers, weed eaters, tree hedgers, saws, excavators, crane truck, vac truck, septic truck and other hand and power tools used in utilities site equipment maintenance.
Operates a wide range of basic utility equipment, including but not limited to welders, torches, and standard and specialized hand and power tools.
Maintains internal wastewater lift stations control floats, removes grease products from wall surfaces, and nets floating grease from wet well wastewater surfaces.
Assist with inspections, basic repair services, paints lift stations, pumps, motors and equipment.
Assist with replacing pumps, motors, bearings, broken valves, leaky water and wastewater pipes and faulty equipment as directed.
Enters and works in confined spaces in conformance with established confined space permit protocols.
Cleans wet wells and other structures and equipment as directed; maintains facilities and grounds.
Maintains corrective and preventive maintenance work order records with Utility Maintenance Mechanics and Field Services Manager.
Assist with performing general maintenance of water plant and water reclamation facility and equipment.
Assist with operating emergency power generators during emergency events.
Assists other Utility Maintenance Mechanics, and other personnel as required.

Minimum Qualifications
