Position Overview
The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Utility Maintenance Manager in the Department of Utility Services. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under general direction, manages, and evaluates the City of Henderson's utility infrastructure maintenance programs and oversees staff responsible for inventory control, maintenance management, and the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for water, wastewater, and reclaimed water treatment and conveyance systems; and performs related duties as assigned.
Examples of Duties
  • Identifies, optimizes, and recommends appropriate preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance strategies based on life cycle costs and risk assessment analyses
  • Coordinates feedback in the design or redesign of systems and plans related to maintenance
  • Oversees research and coordination of the evaluation, selection, design, layout, and installation of a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of maintenance strategies throughout the water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems through analysis and review in the CMMS
  • Manages the implementation, operation, and maintenance of the CMMS for tracking and evaluating the effectiveness of maintenance programs and supports rehabilitation or replacement decisions for major water and wastewater infrastructure
  • Responds to plant maintenance related inquiries from regulatory agencies
  • Oversees the coordination of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, procurement, staging, and tracking
  • Oversees inventory control and materials management strategies for the utility
  • Evaluates and authorizes the purchase of equipment, materials, and supplies necessary to maintain utility infrastructure; oversees forecasting of consumption trends
  • Records, tracks, and evaluates maintenance materials, supply usage, and related activities
  • Oversees the development of standard department maintenance key performance indicators, data standards, and business processes in support of continuous system improvement
  • Makes recommendations on staffing levels in support of maintenance initiatives where appropriate
  • Develops, prepares, and analyzes budget on a maintenance/inventory basis
  • Evaluates maintenance/inventory costs and develops programs for improving efficiency
  • Develops and reviews system standards, procedures, and processes to ensure consistent and efficient use of the CMMS
  • Oversees the training of department staff in the use and processes developed for the CMMS
  • Coordinates with other city departments and vendors as appropriate
  • Performs support to the capital improvement plan through reporting and analysis from the CMMS

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, engineering, or a closely related field
    • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance management in a water and/or wastewater utility, or similar environment, two (2) years of which were in a management/supervisory role
    • Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
    • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
    • Desirable: Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in a related discipline with the State of Nevada
    • Desirable: Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)

    Position Benefits Summary
    INSURANCE

    PAID TIME OFF (PTO)

    • Second year through fifth calendar years of service - 22 days
    • Sixth year through twelfth calendar years of service - 26 days
    • Thirteenth calendar year of service and beyond - 30 days

    Bereavement
    • Four consecutive days of leave, with pay, per occurrence, to attend funeral for immediate family member.
    Holidays
    • 12 paid holidays per year.
    Banked Holidays
    • Holidays that fall on a day the employee is not scheduled to work will be banked. Employees may accumulate up to 152 hours of banked holiday hours at any given time.
    Floating Holidays
    • Employee credited with two (2) floating holidays at the beginning of each calendar year. If hired prior to July 1, employee will be credited with two (2) floating holidays and if hired between July 1 and October 31, employee will be credited with one (1) floating holiday.
    WORK WEEK
    • Four day, 9.5 hour work day, 38 hour work week.
    • Four day, 10 hour work day, 40 hour work week for Police PERS positions.
