Position Summary
Glass Roots Construction (GRC) was founded by a team of career telecom and construction professionals and looks to leverage the latest technologies, best in industry equipment, construction and safety practices to build a first-class fiber optic utility construction firm in multiple markets throughout the US. This position is for a Fleet and Maintenance Manager who will report to Safety and Compliance Manager and manage GRC’s fleet of 100+ assets across all markets (currently California, Colorado, and Nevada, but expanding into other states in the near future) as well as market area mechanics in the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Partnering with Safety and Compliance Manager to ensure compliance with applicable agencies and laws
- Creating, maintaining, and managing a robust maintenance schedule for all Fleet and fixed assets
- Scheduling regular maintenance on all vehicles and fixed assets across markets
- Recording fleet maintenance program activities
- Ordering urgent or emergency repairs as needed
- Monitoring and maintaining compliance with relevant local, state, and federal agencies
- Ensuring all fleet members have proper licensure and up-to-date training
- Monitoring Drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and proper driving practices
- Providing reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance and fleet progress
- Developing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency
Skills and Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience in fleet/shop management
- Great written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent leadership skills, including goal-setting, motivation and training
- Expert knowledge of best driving, vehicle and equipment maintenance and other industry practices
- Strong data analysis and computer skills
- Familiarity with vehicle telematic and management software
- Understanding of basic vehicle and equipment mechanics, including the ability to identify when major repairs are needed
- Ability to set and monitor a budget
- Good problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Exceptional organization, time management and multitasking abilities
- Attention to detail
- Ability to devise and revise plans as needed
